    "Heaven Thunder Hammer"

Named in honor of our powerful yellow star, that can send you reeling into your pillows as the glorious radiance of the dawn sears your retinas from afar.

I designed this mech to counter the staggering amount of assault mechs I've been encountering lately (especially the saccharine-sweet poptarts). Hit them before they hit you. Hit them while they're peeking over the ridge. Hit them as often as you can- because you have power to send your piercing light fast and far!

The AC2's are a true complement to the Gauss Rifle in this playstyle, distracting enemies with peppering fire while you line them up for 2000m/s Rembrandt Lightning. There is a comfortable amount of ammo for each weapon, and you will find yourself able to engage often if you take advantage of range, terrain, and surprise.

Gauss in the torso? WHAT?! Do not fear! The STD260 engine gives you a reasonable speed while allowing you to place your Gauss Rifle in the right torso and shoot over the hills without worry.

This match on River City Night was an excellent arena to run my build through the crucible of competitive play. We were bottom and rushed around the citadel, while the enemy went upper and quickly returned to their base. This allowed me to use the Upper/side ramp for heyday upon their base defenders while my team assaulted through lower. If they poked a limb out I was able to quickly correct them of the error, and they could not focus on me without turning a back or side to my team. Often, their line of fire was hindered by buildings, engagement distance, or autocannons in the face.

I even received a compliment for my ingenuity! >//<

Long story short: Play to the strengths of this design, and it is likely you will be of significant impact towards the success of your team. Adjust the small details like number of medium lasers, engine size, and ammo to your liking. ^_^

Hm... See any thing you like?

if so, I like lasers, and you don't have lasers.

Interesting concept and I'm borderline so will test this out myself before commenting further.

XD My apologies Vergere... I suppose that you had a similar idea first!

However, I will say I've never seen that 4X build of yours, and I think the style of play works best on the Ilya Muromets because you have the Gauss higher in the torso and the engine is a tad more powerful. I tried similar builds with medium lasers on my Ilya before arriving at this one... they just distracted me and took up ammo tonnage.

As an aside, I had so many potential names for this... it was hard to choose one! =P

Since you have 17 crits left, you may as well throw it on, add a DHS (or a ton of Gauss ammo) and bring that leg armor up some.

Add FF, drop 1ton AC2.ammo and load 2x MLas. 1. You have more Firepower in Close Range Encounters, 2. You can defend yourself better against Lights, 3. You can save Ammo with Lasers and 4. You still keep some firepower if losing the arms

    ;)

Thanks Blagg! I'd forgotten about FF armor. I've been trying a variation of your build this morning in some fun Comstar random 12's (dropped to a STD 250 and added a ton of AC2 ammo), and it's been working great! I still need to play more matches to compare small differences, but I will likely update the original build somewhat.
