Hi guys, I was really happy with that new feature of the game. I was thinking - well that will speed up the waiting period. But in reality it did made the pre-game process much longer. It is really annoying when you have to wait those several seconds (1 minute ?) for 1 or 2 players to get ready. In my opinion it should work like that...90 % of players ready = the game starts. There will be always those lazy guys (trolls) who won't click the button when it should be done. Wanted to share my little frustration with you
It's just a placeholder for the proper solution (tho how long it takes until then, who knows?) where we get the mapvote (if we get it) and the mech selection from our ready slots (if we get it).
A lot of people are ALT tabbed out however one good way to look at this issue is that it could be an indicator of who is about to DC, then you can zero in on that target and get a free kill or two or boost your damage numbers easily.
I just had a guy who enjoy make the others waiting for him. And he was typing in chat how he was proud of doing this... It just reminds me the LoL community...
It's GREAT for teams who need to be able to take command and assign lances. Also, gives teams time to look at what map and game-mode they are on and take a moment to hammer out their strategy before launch. I love the feature for those reasons... For PUGs who might have one or two small groups, I agree, it can be a pain to have a longer wait.
The problem is that with the state of the matchmaker, for some mechs it takes over 2 minutes just to find a match to drop in, so previously I would go read something else until I heard the start-up sequence. With this ready button, I basically have to sit there and watch until it finds a drop for me, and then we still have to wait until everyone readies up anyways.
Hopefully they drop it for the PUG matches and leave it for CW matches. The biggest complaint I've seen is the PUGs who take company command and reorder the lances inadvertently breaking up premades into separate lances.
Yes, that is sad, but how often do you see a Lance sticking together in a pug match. Hopefully they are fixing this...... ........
Well, I alt tab out frequently cause it is just so darn long to wait for the auto-matching. I am usually on mechspecs and smurfy, and return whenevery I hear the game beeps.
Nice new feature. This suck. From what I'm reading on the official forum, it's for the team that need time to make their plan. I think one game out of 20 has started quickly.
the thing is, in 12 mans, the lances are randomly made. If you have time beforehand to put lights in their own lance, and other similar mechs together, you have a bit better team fighting. But for PUGS, it is a bit unfair, or a TROLL as it could be called.
I don't believe that every time there is a person that hasn't pressed the ready button, that they are trolling. In one match, I was shown the map that I was being dropped into but didn't see the ready screen for about 45-50 seconds. I thought the client was going to disconnect me but I was finally shown the ready screen. By then all other 23 players have pressed the ready and they were already complaining that "there's always one in every match". It has only happened to me once since the ready screen was implemented. The ready screen needs some indicator to show which players are in the ready screen and which players that have been assigned a match but whose client is not in the ready screen. It may be a very low percentage but only call people out for trolling when you know they are.
Hi, I've been reading along for a while now. I like the new ready screen, as it does give you the opportunity to discuss strategy in PUGs. IMHO the problem is the visibility of the ready button. It's too small, and badly placed on the screen. It should be twice the size and be placed in the upper middle, above the player list. Some people also state having problems of disconnects when clicking the ready button, and thus won't klick it. Happened to me once, I clicked and the game crashed. But only once in some 50+ matches. The most annoying part is the KLICK THE READY BUTTON, MORON posts before every game...
It's like 60 seconds of downtime... join the TS3 and talk about something, look out the window, pay attention to your pet, shit blow your nose. This is a non issue. Folks are getting used to the fact that the ready button is even there, and as mentioned by a previous poster often times those unready are still loading in. I use my own downtime to snatch company command to prevent someone from randomly breaking up my premades.
So after 60 drops I wasted an entire hour just waiting around? Not that I have a problem with the ready button or waiting 60 seconds, but those minutes add up to a lot of wasted time for people doing speed drops for a couple hours. If I assume an average of 40 second wait per round for every round I've played (not a lot considering I only started playing again 2 months ago) I would have spent almost 7 hours total just waiting for a games to start. The only criticism I have is this, people don't use it. You COULD talk tactics, but in a random drop, no one does because they just want to play a quick game(s). Even when a couple people DO talk strategy, no one ever listens or even cares what you have to say. Seems like 90% of the time everyone is waiting for just 1 person to ready after the first ~20 seconds of the game loading. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind waiting another 40 seconds, but I keep asking myself "is this really necessary?" I see no benefit in a random drop to wait 40 seconds for that last person (or two) to ready up. If more than 80% of the players are ready to play, they shouldn't have to wait. I think that should be included. If 80% (10/12) players are ready, the game starts. It would eliminate my only criticism completely.
I hat to tell you this, but over half the tim my game would be blank screen while loading, and it would go back up when it is playing the whole "all systems caffinated" boot sequence. That means for the entire "ready" crap I am just in a blank screen doing nothing. Having that time only increases the seconds of my life wasted stirring into a blank screen waiting for some robot killing actions. Sorry if you have to wait for me, but right now the game is not even stable enough for everyone to have a chance to click ready, and all it does is to waste my time that could be playing reaping cbills.
There seems to always be one guy who never hits ready. One match, a user swore he hit ready but the game never accepted him as ready.
I have more and more games where people just told everyone how happy they are to make the others wait for them. This stupid button (in PUG drop, I can understand its use for premade team) just highlight the bad behaviour of some kiddies, and decrease the pleasure to play : for the first time in this game, I saw people insulting each other
If that's the case, you have been VERY VERY lucky. At my Elo level (whatever that is), I see insults thrown about every fourth match or so, as somebody gets blown away by some "broken" weapon or whatever. About half the time they blame the weapon, and the other half they insult the player that killed them. Plus, I get insulted personally every few matches when I have a good run piloting a Spider. They tend to call it "easy mode" and I respond back that while a Spider is sometimes hard to kill, piloting one is NEVER easy. One guy even said something like "I don't know how you Spider pilots live with yourselves, piloting a broken 'Mech like that."
I loath fighting against them, especially in packs but when I do, and I kill one, victor is that much sweeter. I played in a match today where there were 3 spiders, a jenner and a cicada. We wiped them out.... allllllllllllllll of them. I might have even tooted my horn a bit at that. On the other hand I love playing them. Whether its a lag shield or impossible hit boxes or whatever it is fun to run around and shoot people with the large laser as they tear out their hair trying to return fire.
