Haven't posted any of my builds in a while (up to about 2 dozen now), but this one was just too much fun for me to keep for myself. This build is an extremely solid all-rounder. It has speed and maneuverability equal to mechs half its weight, twelve tons of armor, a nasty alpha, a good bit of range on the LLs, and incredible heat efficiency to top it all off. This is the first laserboat I've ever enjoyed, as Hunchbacks were always too fragile and vulnerable in the shoulders to really brawl with should the need arise. Whether you like chasing down lights and slicing off limbs, sneaking behind someone and dealing 84 damage to their back in just under 10 seconds, licking enemies at long range with a few LLs and not having to be concerned about the heat buildup, or just plain ripping someone's shoulders off while brawling, this build delivers. Weapon groupings for me are LLs (chained), MLs (chained) and middle mouse mapped to alpha strike. If you rock back and forth alternating left and right mouse buttons, you can fire continuously for about 30 seconds before hitting a heat warning.
Thanks for the build. I was already running the same weapons loadout as this but always had survival problems in the mech. Your armor set up really makes a lot more sense and let me drop on a couple of more heat sinks on it.
Didn't have/couldn't afford the 385XL, so been running a 360 with 3 x LLasers and 3 x MPLasers. Love it!
Been looking at this build again recently. I don't think I noticed before, but the 25 points of armour on the legs seems criminally low. Downgrading to a 380 or 375 XL would free up some weight (1.5 or 2.5 tons) that could go into armour for a marginal speed sacrifice (1.3 or 2.5 kph).
375 might be optimal, you still keep the 5 additional Engine Heatsinks. You loose only 2.1Km/h and gain 2.5 tons. (i'm going by a spreadsheet now, so calc might be a bit off)
Yeah I know, old thread. Was just talking about this build today, and then realized the otpimized XL375 build had never actually been posted on here. Quite a bit more armor than the OP, and loses only ~2 kph. Totally worth it, if you ask me.
I think it lacks the necesarry cooldown to fullfill its intended role in the field. If u could add more weapons, but the PPCs have 4 secs...
