Lol that test post that Blagg Zear posted is fucking nutso! Lol!

    Ok, no, but seriously. Lol.

    Ok but seriously.

    Seriously.

...seriously? That's pretty fucking legit. I dig. Need more approaches like that. It doesn't have to be that in depth, but give some friggin effort ya know? That's legit shit in that post. I'll do some of that shit in my future showcase threads.

thx for the credits dudes. My intention is not to give that layout as a Requirement for all builds here, but rather giving an idea, how to post better here. Every build.poster/guide.writer here can create his personal table of content, layout and whatsoever. You can reduce it to the most important parts and update/extend it later. I created that layout based on my LoL.Guide. Maybe some of you can get some inspiration for posting better stuffs here. We could discuss all the ideas, you have in your mind to improve the post-content, and then just try all the good stuffs in our next build-suggestions.

I would really love to read something like this for some of your favorite&personal builds, just to see how you came to your build + how you play it + what gameplay tips you personally can give. It's really more exciting to learn from each other, rather than just seeing the smurfy link without knowing anything about the correct way to use it.

posted a second, more compact version:

    http://www.mechspecs.com/forum/index.php?topic=3712.msg23884#msg23884

I took out everything, what can be said about the Victor in general, and reduced the content down to the viable parts about the specific Variant. I will try to write such a build+guide for my next posts + updating some of my favorite old builds into this layout. Maybe i can motivate other members to follow with their personal versions..

How about limiting people to only post e.g. max 3 builds on each Mech-Variant, while motivating them to only post their personal best suggestions. They would think thoroughly before posting anything. This would improve the quality and the overall readability in the threads. Not sure if its technically possible. But i think it's better than simply removing people's posts - what would lead to a shitstorm about Mechspecs.

About the Charge .. not a good idea to expand the community on mechspecs. Let People donate voluntarily and motivate people to donate with extra stuff. Free2Play & Free2Read with VIP-Stuff for Payers is still the most welcomed concept nowadays. ;) You could create some Donation-Packages just like the Project Phoenix, with different amount of money but also different attractive VIP-Stuffs. Make some Advertisement here at Mechspecs with a big Button to view it, and instantly you get more Benefactors.

Mmmmmm what you suggest implies that I will be sitting at my desk, or chained to my desk, creating content which is not going to happen. But thank you for the suggestion. I am sure I will come up with something if it ever becomes an issue. As it stands right now, not being a paid employee, and PGI changing system/mechanics, on a weekly basis, I have a lot of freedoms and I prefer that most.

Well, it is logical to move tried and true concepts from other similar mech on a new mech variant and see how it works. This is more obvious on the Jager series, but it is not limited to that either.

Sometimes builds are also a way to go "let's test this out and see how it goes"
This is especially true for adaptive versions of some newly changed weapons. By using a community effort we can find out a few reasonable builds quickly. In other words, we have at least usable builds for people who just buy a new mech (basic upgrades is easy, you can outfit your new toy in under 3mil usually)

I am not interested in being the best build, or be the first to name a build and other crap. Rather, I hope everyone can work together and weak things so we would end up with a great build in the end.

We build the next generations of metas for each mech together as a group, as mechspecs. We have builders and players and brains from different styles of play and mindset. We WILL cook something powerful up, hopefully. I am more than happy and humbled if someone comes up with a design better than me, or someone creating a great combo inspired by my designs. On the other hand, I am more than happy to add a tweak here and there in other people's post, maybe simple things like moving things around would allow for saving of half a ton for armor, or just enough critical slots to shoehorn FF in so you can get a better engine. Little things count. Sometimes I would cross reference a few similar builds just so I can find a better ammo ratio, or the placement of that one LLas added to the many energy slots. Then you run through the weaponslab a dozen times to reference the heat, then you jam the design in some mechs to see how it goes, or how it would perform in similar mechs (which I would say, I am proud of my mech garage).

I know oftern times it does not matter, but it is the little things that makes the mech more efficient. And the current meta we have are just builds with every little thing optomized, out of dozens of similar builds, cross referenced with many others.

It is better than people running around useless stock not knowing what to do. YES I would say that again, most stock are useless pieces of crap.
