yeah, it's one thing to run a troll build for giggles, but he was dead serious about it being awesome to the point of being rather defensive...
His excuse: 'XL300 engine' WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!? EDIT: Match just now: a hunchback 4G with 1 SML and 1 AC10. was too shocked to take a screenshot, but I think it might have looked like this in his mechlab: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=1&l=165b5c18e6aca4658dc45d3c2d516a8915bcd4aa HNNNNNNG
I already thought that 4 streaks on a battlemaster was a serious disgrace, only suitable for the lowest lazy scumbags, and then I saw this: Do people really have absolutely no shame at all? I mean, seriously?
Big energy based mechs bristling with flamers and the occasional double TAG guy (did it myself on accident once)
dont know if this is the right place - but ive spectated this guy: my HBK's have more firepower than this one....
I think it's sad too, but the game is heavily alpha / focused strike centered and only rarely in PUGs will you have the benefit of a team that will stick with or protect slower Mechs. Moreover, while assaults can't always moonwalk around PPC blasts like light 'Mechs, it gives you the chance to reposition, not get overrun, or just be fast enough to get back to cover before a swarm of LRMs or an airstrike eats your face. Armor means next to nothing compared to terrain and speed.
Regarding engine sizes, yes I too agree that sometimes people put in too large a engine. However, a STD 350 in a Atlas can work for example. The 325 is often the sweet spot IMHO though but there are definantly cases where larger can be advantageous. We have a cpl of posts somewhere showing diagrams of engines I think?
even MOAR! http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=50&l=25a93d6485e2831b8cebf43eaa1fcd965ee5bc58 http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=50&l=52103e207794ed47d195e3521a7716409eeb4848
I think I should get myself a new scout. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=103&l=ee52c7f0b0921920bd58ae69bfdb785024381a81 you know, if I had a BH I'd do this and take a stroll, just for the lolz
Crazy builds thread for theoretical pieces of crap. This thread for pieces of crap that people are actually seriously playing in game because they have no clue.
For once I agree, but for different reasons. It is a crappy build anyways, one way or another. I finds this variant works quite well with lots of SRM and at least 2x LLas (better if 4x LLas). Obviously if you are running things like PPC you might want 4x streaks for close combat, but that is another tactic.
Boar's head with a 400-rating engine and 4 ERPPCs. also, i've mounted a narc beacon+AMS on a LCT-3S out of sheer hate of that variant - and surprisingly managed to grind through faster with it.
this guy nearly killed me. i'm terribly bad at this. in the end i managed to kill him, but got killed half a second later by an AC20 to the back. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=79&l=48ac45be1f8320ff0c0a5d77f92be7c3f672e438 i'd post a screenshot but when i pasted it into paint i got a black screen:-/
I had the great fortune of having this Cicada on my team in a game today... http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=39&l=0bf7fc795e8d4db76f50b78fe55c57dceba2213f Myself I died due to my own stupidity and the massive firepower of the enemy team, so I decided to watch this guy for a while.. Sure, AC20 in a speedy medium sounds like a match made in heaven, right? WRONG! He took potshots from within cover and wen the 14 rounds were spent he was, well, utterly, utterly useless.
http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=39&l=ad01a0b91e749a31b31098b6ffba2f241ab15db5 Der I fixed it ^^ probably a funny build and here you can actually deal a potential 700 damage, even though you could also just run a bloody hunchback.
