This is one of my favourite builds of all time. I've been running this in my 5M for 6 months now and it is my only mech to achieve 8 kills in one match (back in 8v8) and is responsible for a good proportion of my 1000+ games. It fits the role of a frontline brawler and is effective against all weight classes. The Lasers are the primary armament with 5 Streak SRM2s providing consistent damage even against lights. A BAP helps negate ECM and increases sensor effectiveness. 22 DHS try to keep it running cool. The STD300 gives it decent speed (for an Assault) to close in on the enemy. The LLs can be swapped to ERLLs if desired. Once you close in, the you can deliver good DPS. It's lots of fun.

On paper it sounds like one hell of a brawler build. Great heat efficiency, light counter, respectable dps. Gonna test it in the nearest time.

That sounds good, I'm going to give it a test too! I like the ideas of having the ER's at range, might have to test that out.

Great, great, great build. Bad for teammates though, because they can't get xp and cbills when I've killed everything.

This mech has given me more ~1200 games than any other. I'm glad you enjoy it :D

question about brawling with 5x ssrm2.

when you open a missile door do you have 10% less protection for the launcher itself, or 10% less protection from armor too?

never had a mech with doors so far.

With the door closed you have 10% more protection AKA you take 10% decreased damage. As missile doors are lowered you receive regular damage.

I thought it was just 10% reduction to damage to weapon internals whilst the doors are closed. The damage to armour doesn't change. Then again, I haven't looked it up in a long time.

That would sound more balanced, bit your internals can't be crit anyway of they're still protected

well either way I'll keep them open, I realized they are only in the arms and not in ST on Stalker.

About this build I dropped a 2DHS and pumped leg armor and added AMS.Artemis for faster streak lock "bug".

    rarely overheating anyway.

    great build ;)

Artemis+Streak lock bug was fixed 2 patches ago.

I find the missile doors personally really effective as I use the streaks also in duels vs. heavies mechs. Missile doors split the first shot at least, staggering the enemy a little bit more (and the THUMP THUMP sounds cool).

    For reference, weapon groups:
    1. LLs
    2. Arm MLs
    3. Streaks
    4. CT ML/Flamer
    5. Streaks Chain Fire
    6. Arm Laser Chain Fire/unused

Chain firing 5 streaks will delivering 2LL, 3ML can be devastatingly effective. I do still have artemis on this 5M due to the old bug.

From time to time I run oxide and it still feels faster lock then this stalker on which I have no artemis, maybe just my mind :D or maybe it's just 150km/h vs 50 :D

EDIT, just went in testing gound with and without, with artemis it's still definively faster lock time.
