Among the same line as the other PPC HBK thread.

This HBK carries mainly long-range weapons, PPC + 10LRM. The only way you play it is to stay close to your blob of assault mechs and hide behind them. You'll be throwing fast salvo's of LRMs with other lrm mechs on your team and shooting PPC's that just pass the atlases.

The heat efficiency looks bad, but it is not 29% bad as smurfy makes you think. It is still a hot build though. You focus on those PPC's and LRM's. The mediums are not fired at long range (obviously). Stop PPC-ing and cool down while shooting LRM's.
You have decent speed so it is easy to back off for a second. That same speed also makes getting out of minimum LRM/PPC range easy. Something the assaults with these type of weapons struggle with.

I'm not so sure what to think of this one yet. I've played it a bit and it sometimes it works, other times you just die because of that nasty XL...

Oh, and if you have money to spare you swap that 250XL out for a 255XL. (i didn't own one)

    Please share your experiences!

I keep thinking that this build is missing something, and I think it's missing special equipment that could turn the tide of battle in its favor. If you're going to run escort and support, then adding Artemis or TAG might be a huge help.

Here's my proposal. Max speed, max (ferro) armor, and add TAG. I had to drop a DHS to make it all fit, but you said you didn't have heat problems, so, go for broke, eh?

Sadly, neither of us have the CBills to test this proposal.

So firstly lrm5's are bad, ams will eat up every single missile. Secondly under 30% heat is bad, esp since you are running 2 ppc's. Thirdly xl engine...ouch!

In this case, 2xLRM5 is better than 1xLRM10 as the LRM5s--if fired together--will launch as a group of 10, where the LRM10 will launch as 6+4.

The 4SP suffers from hunchitis much less than the others, so an you can get away with an XL engine. Still, if you're going to use an XL in the 4SP, you need to pack the biggest engine you can into it.

That has been my experience as well with XL's in HBK as well so far. But i just want to play around with that 250/255XL. They still give a respectable

About 2xLRM5, it really isn't as bad as you think. You can still shoot at stray mechs. And if you shoot with other lrm mechs on your team they just add up. Not to mention the psychological effect of lrms.

That heat efficiency is deceptive. Smurfy takes all weapons including those Mlsrs into account when calculating heat efficiency. While in reality you will be firing 2 of the 3 weapon systems at once at most. If you stick to your lrms and PPC's the heat isn't that bad. To put things into perspective: PPC's only give 48%, PPC+lrm 38%, PPC + Mlsr 35%.

It is not a super duper 1337 build, but i still think it has a nice cute varied load out. It has PPC's, what can be wrong about it heh ;-)
