Hello, and Merry Christmas to all! Ok, so I have the Commando 2d and 1B, but want to build a 3A to get the modules fo the set. I can't find ANYONE suggesting a 3A build. Geez, do I feel like the "stepchild" of the commando crowd....do the pits on the 3A smell, does it leak fluids at parties, or expel exhaust at family gatherings? Potty Mouth standard? Does it sit in the corner and make small holes in the furniture with its flamer, or chase the cat with the Medium Laser? No one used this one?? REALLY? Ok, Ok....maybe it's just SO AWESOME out of the box I can't modify it without being ostracized like that producer (what'shisname...I forget...maybe I never knew...it's not coming...) who remade that movie, you know, the one with the guy, the bearded guy and the pistol? Or maybe it was a gal in a guy's clothes, and it was a laser?...nonono, it was a GUY in Guy's clothing, but he WANTED to be a girl.... Or to wear girl's clothes... ...or maybe he wanted a laser..I dunno; ask the wife. They know EVERYTHING. Point is, are there no 3A builds, or must I wander the frozen wastes forever, as Kane before me, questioning the Wisdom of "Ferro, or no Ferro?"? To Double Heat Sink or Sink without doubling? Perhaps to double-down, to don the XL engine Mom loved so, spurning economy for the intense rush of Speed? Would you, the Gurus of the Garage, forsake a neophyte with no spare MCs?? Can the depths of Human Cruelty have no hotter Hell than that plane reserved for the unanswered querries of the soon-to-be Bantha Pudu Commando 3A, save your Infinite Knowlege and Sage Advice? And.....and Mom said you'd help. You're . . . a strange person. I have never bought any of the Commandos, so I can't really help, I just wanted to let you know you're strange, in case you hadn't heard that lately.
Hey, So I was running a 2d and needed another chassis to bought the 3a. I have been running an xl 220 engine. 2 med lasers, and 2 srm6. FF armor and endo-steal. Sorry at work and posting on a phone, but this weapon load out has worked very well for me. Compared to the 2d with streaks this build hits harder but runs way hotter. But with a lot of lights running ECM it is funny when they try and go toe to toe and get blasted by 2 srm 6s. This build runs hot since it only had single hs, so it requires some heat management. Sorry for the poor format as well.

Ya, the lack of 3A is very odd on this forum. It's really a much better variant than the 2D with the exact same number of weapons hard points.
Since the 3A has identical hardpoints to the 1D but in slightly different locations, any build that works for the 1D works for the 3A.
Except that 3A can do the 2xSRM6 thing. I think 3A is slightly better than 1D cause of that. More builds available.
One thing I do with my Commando's is I only put 1 armor point in the head. The hitbox is so small that people just don't get a head shot on me. I had a guy point this out and I think I have died many 3-4 times in many dozens of matches due to a head shot. Only put more than one point in the head if you have the extra weight to spare.
