This turned out to be an extremely effective mech for play. You need to understand that you have enough speed to move to flanks and to flee when something larger comes to play. You're primary mission is harasser. As a secondary mission, this works very good for peeling spiders and jenners off of other LRM boats. Note, for individuals that must have lasers the ML is the same weight as the SPL and can be switched out at will. The dps of a ML is 1.25 vs the SPLs 1.24.
Generally speaking what I discovered is if the target is at range I am moving and targeting with my LRMs. If they are a light that has run into melee with me, they are trying to get under the range of my LRMs. That is the range of my SPLs. The reason I mentioned the options that the SPLs are changeable with the ML is both are 1ton. The only issue is the ML will generate more heat.
I run a variation of this with a standard 175 engine and BAP, and replaces one of the lasers with TAG. Yes, it's much slower than other builds but I find I don't miss the speed at all. Launch, move, launch, move, and the TAG helps your brother missile boats and your missiles (and net you credits and XP). And the Small pulses do pretty well when it comes to close range shooting. Great for a pilot on a budget (like me) You could pull the BAP for a bigger engine if you want, in which case you can put in a 195 standard engine which will increase your speed to 90.3.
