ORIGINAL INFORMATION You heard it here first folks! There is now an Upgrade package called the Saber Reinforcement Pack which will give you the Wolverine and the Griffin Battlemechs; These will be coming December 17th 2013, according to the website, a perfect early Christmas present to yourself! TOTAL COST: $30 USD (upgrade ANY package you currently have) WOLVERINE GRIFFIN
Hmmm...already another package? I think I'll wait to hear about clans first. Though they look very nice indeed.
It makes three 55t mechs in the package, I'd hope for more diversity. I'm excited about the Wolverine though.
Here is some loadout and hardpoint data for the Phoenix Saber mechs: Both have JJ! And the Grif with 3 energy in the right arm + 3 missiles on the right torso sounds fun and versatile!
Hmm I am not sure if I want to buy these myself. I am willing to contribute a couple of bucks to helping Mech Specs get them for the sake of video benefactor video stuff but I donnt thing I will be getting them myself as I donnt like those mechs
Those two additions are looking very sweet, and the Wolverine is one of my all-time favourites for sure. BUT - The timing of the package is aweful. Isn't there already enough of a shitstorm over PGI? - 3x 55t mechs in basically the same package after waiting for months for just a single one of them makes me think "WTF?" - The Griffin (P) is quickly disabled by shooting it's right torso. Talking about eggs and baskets... - Both Wolverine and Shadow Hawk are very comparable both stat wise and hardpoint wise. Is this really worth another $30? As much as I love those iconic mechs, I will wait for their CBill counterparts.
Holy carp did they make the wolverine look baller! Debating whether or not to get this.... I'll probably wait and see. @Aylek: From what I can tell, Wolverine will be an SRM platform while the Shadowhawk will mainly be a ballistics platform. Minor differences, yeah, but you know how crazy builds can get, and how huge the optimization hard-on is. As for the Griffin... Shield arm
I have added the sabre upgrade to my overlord package. I am happy to contribute I really want this game to succeed and $30 is not too bad, I paid more than that for 1 premium tank in world of tanks.
if you look at the first photo, the should both be taller than the thunderbolt cockpit by a few meters.
I am expecting the Saber mechs to be approx the same size as the Shadowhawk, and for now am attributing the scaling in the image to the two new mechs being added in later. As for overlap, there is some, especially as nobody can leave them in their original load outs/roles (myself included). But the shad is going to be the 'cool runner' with its ballistic for those hot maps, the grif med/long range support (due to all its weapons being in the RT/RA). The Wolvie is more flexible, but seeing it as the brawler of the three.
