The Lil' Slugger is a great brawling mech. The Ultra AC/5 saves space (versus the heavier ACs or a Gauss Rifle) for more lasers and increases your DPS substantially. The 5 Medium Lasers ensure that you always have backup for those moments when the Ultra jams. And, although this build is heat-inefficient on paper, it actually tends to run cool. I keep my Lil' Slugger moving at all times. The Ultra fires well from the hip, and when I have a clear shot I simply jam down the fire button. The majority of engagements, I fire the Ultra until it jams, then switch to lasers, then go back to the Ultra when it unjams. This produces a lot of component destruction, and I have yet to overheat. I keep the lasers in an "arm" fire group and a "torso" fire group, but I tend to fire all five at once when I see a nice shot. When a brawl drag on, I fire the groups separately to keep the heat down. I exclusively fire on lights with the arm lasers (for faster tracking), although if they slow down or stop for even a moment, I can smash them with an Alpha Strike. In conclusion, the fast fire rate of the Ultra AC/5, combined with the space liberated for a pulverizing array of lasers, makes me prefer the Lil' Slugger setup to heavier Autocannons or a Gauss Rifle on the HBK-4H.
You might want to adjust the above sheet. It doesn't show the lasers or the DHS. Edit: Ignore me I am blind or you edited as I posted.
You are my hero of the day. The uac5 is awesome. Today was the first time I've tried one and it is simply awesome on a 4H.
My personal derivation of the build: I keep the lasers on chain fire to slow the build of heat. It sacrifices AMS and adds FF to push the engine all the way to a STD 260. Fast and brutal - one of my favorites.
