I feel that people laugh when they see a Raven during the initial drop, especially because it's full ECM capabilities haven't been released yet. However, this build has made it one of my favorite mechs in the game so far. This Raven is fast and nimble, able to go toe-to-toe with a lot of the light builds out there, with a top speed of 119.6 kph with Speed Tweak. I use it as a close range brawler, support/escort for assaults and as a harasser. With the Beagle Active Probe it can also be an effective scout. The real key to success with this version of the Raven is having constant missiles on target, especially with the SRM6. The SSRMs afford you accuracy versus lights, while the shotgun-blast SRM6 is awesome up close against slow-movers. Note that the SSRM is in the NARC hardpoint, so you won't have to 'aim' both bursts thanks to their tracking capabilities. With five heatsinks (I could probably afford to take one or two off) I rarely ever overheat, so I am able to keep constant fire up. Firepower of 30 is no laughing matter from a light mech. I have gone toe to toe against multiple mechs, particularly mediums and heavies (especially Catapults) and usually can do significant amounts of damage. Rarely will I come out of a match with less than 200 damage with this build, and often can get multiple kills. You still have to play smart and not over-extend yourself, so if you intend to brawl, stay close to your team.
Why FF instead of Endosteel? ES saves way more weight and has the same drawback. This way you can pack more ammo/armor/speed/HS in your build and make it even more dangerous ;-)
Thanks for the suggestion! I've actually been meaning to do this, just haven't replaced the FF that came stock with the mech from the store yet.
This is the best build I came up with. Any of the Raven 3L builds are great but if you can shoot the SRM6 this is the build for you. Constantly getting over 550 damage per round. Give the support in the early stage of the round then start raping the armor. I pair the 2 ML with the SSRM2 and let it fly. Heat becomes an issue when circling but I just let SRM6 fly when cooling. Also look to see how many ECM's are on your team....once the close range battle picks up set it to 'jam'. Only having 1 ton of SRM ammo make them count...back armor....head shots. Also have all the pilot lab unlocked and have the target decay module x2 unlocked. If you want you can drop the engine to 265 and add either a ML or another ton of SRM ammo....I like the speed Good Hunting Also digging this one..........
