i don't think you have enough speed to chase lights, but enough to protect your team mates from lights. 4-5 stars.
My biggest nay on this build is ammo placement. I mean, it's kind of bad to remove head armor, but if you do that...don't place ammo in there. If you are lucky enough to walk away from a face plastering, you run HIGH risk of your own ammo finishing the job and you've successfully stroked someone's ego who will never believe an ammo explosion finished what he started.
Very similar to my $$ Maker. http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=93&l=b4ce5fca4b607aeaa86ed232fcbca05c28b0e2af Take pockshots with the ER's, snipe around corners etc. Keep Tagging enemys to add up the C-bills. Light's come charging into your lines send them running with your SSRM's. Very fun build, wish it could fit a larger engine ala the Xl 360 or so but... Try to tag and do damage to all enemy mechs, help out and get spotting bonus's and play on Assault. You can make very nice $$ per hour in the mech, running with Premium Time. Assault Game Mode Win/Loss/Tie = 25,000 Component Destroyed = 2,099 * how many components you have destroyed Enemy Kill = 4,300 * how many enemies you have killed Savior/Defensive Kills = 6,500 * how many friendlies under fire you killed the mech Enemy Kill Assist = 6,500 * how many kill assists you got in the match Spotting Assist = 2,099 * how many spotting assists you got in the match TAG/Narc Assist = 2,099 * how many TAG/Narc assists you got in the game Damage Done = 21 * how much damage you did in the match
So, for some reason I've become obsessed with this Mech. Maybe it's because it has so many haters, but I love nothing more than killing noobs in heavies and assaults. I've gone away from the boat build and back to the streaks - I reckon it works alright! http://i.imgur.com/ON9TqmH.jpg[/img]
So this has probably taken over as my favourite mech. I love how people underestimate it. In this match, I took down a Stalker 1v1 LOL! http://i.imgur.com/8BRpVia.jpg[/img] In this match (It's quite short) you'll see it does pretty good damage in a short space of time. And lights - well this thing pretty much eats them! Action starts around 2.15 http://i.imgur.com/UmhdUwL.jpg[/img] http://i.imgur.com/4zkrps1.jpg[/img]
It's easy calling names when you don't even bother to aim to deal indecent damage. This kind of builds really don't bring anything good to the game, it actually hurt it a lot. And that it can be the favorite build of numerous griefers like you, well, it just disgusts me. Truly. Call me a hater as much as you want.
Well, it is the same build moved to a GB! I do think the GB is inferior though, not cause of the build, but the variant itself. To Blagg: I think 4-5 tons of ammo is needed. 3 tons and you will run out in a productive game. That is the case of my 5x streaks KTO-18 with similar build at least. I would like to point out that here in mechspecs we are building powerful min/max build that is deadly and effective. The "decency" of a build is not our concern. If the system of the game is OP it is up to PGI/etc to fix it. We are going to capitalize on the system to make things as deadly as we can. It is ok if you find it disgusting, but I do hope that you do not downvote a build cause of it. If you don't like the build, feel free to not vote on it. My version. That said I prefer the KTO-18. Sure there is a bit less firepower when it comes to only 2x energy hardpoints, but in return you can go really fast. Oh and XL300 is a good engine.
I never downvoted a streakboat, despite all I think about it. I just don't vote. About the decency being not our concern, I strongly disagree. Min/maxing is not about "capitalize" (oh that word is greatly chosen!) on an unbalanced game design. It is, from a balanced design, taking the best of the different possibilities. To say it in another way, it is not "PPC+AC/20 is the wreaking combo of the current meta, lets load it on all my mechs", it is "I want AC/2s on my dragon, what is the best way to build an AC/2 dragon?". I want a balanced game environment where 1/ multiple gameplays are possible and potentially efficient, 2/ skill and teamplay are rewarded instead of laziness and 3/ the fun not spoiled by balance breaking equipment (if you play light and enjoy a good light vs light dogfight, you know how a streaker can totally ruin the fun).
You're describing a gaming world utopia. It will never exist, especially in a game with so many variables. I've been gaming for more years than is probably healthy - and in nearly every online game balance is never able to be achieved. It's like the Atlas who can stand there and deliver massive amounts of damage. The biggest threat to them in my opinion are well piloted lights. They can harass, take out legs and cause them all sorts of grief. Lights - the obvious achillies heal are streaks. Lights are fast and hard to hit with AC's. Slightly easier with lasers. Streaks take some of the guess work out of it. Add to that the ECM's that everyone seems to have and with my ping being 250+ every match, makes them very very difficult to hit. End of the day it's still a Kintaro and one of the least played chassis in game. Each class has their strengths and weaknesses. There is no "one" better solution. I think this is preferable for me, especially in competitive play, because you can choose strengths to back up game plans. You don't have to like this build, or even like the mech. But you can't argue it's effectiveness, despite what ever "balance" issues you have. Are you going to cut yourself if they ever introduce SSRM6's & 4's? For the record - calling people "noobs" was me having a little fun and referring to "newbies" who seem to take the biggest and baddest damage dealing mechs they can find. You need to lighten up.
