MODEL: KTO-19 (Standard Variant) TONS: 55 ARMOR: FERRO-FIBROUS SPEED: 86.4 JUMPJETS: NONE WEAPONS: 1x Narc Missile Beacon (Booooo) 1x LRM-5 2x SRM-6 2x Medium Lasers Yep, looks like the big, slow, lazy brother of the Commando except unlike the Commando you can mix it up with a little LRM action in addition to the SRM main course. Still, there are a couple of interesting variant possibilities. I am unsure whether we will get the KTO-20 or not because as of 3039 the KTO-19 was what was seen in the Inner Sphere, thanks to Comstar. Yes, I know this is 3050. Still, if they want to follow suit with Hero Mechs being assigned to mech chassis with at least 3x Production Variants then we might get the KTO-18, KTO-19 and the KTO-20. It won't be the KTO-19b as Royal Battlemechs are about as rare as a virgin on prom night! Yes, there is already a Hero Mech for this chassis. Rumors on MWO o-forums are calling it Golden Boy or something like that? Will we see a Hero mech released two weeks before the Production variants? Probably. MECHSPECS DISCUSSION THREAD: http://www.mechspecs.com/forum/index.php?topic=2634.0 Anyways, for us BTech nerds, here is some fluff!
looks like a smaller Brother of the Quickdraw to me (without JJs). And the Quickdraw is not my favorite Mech... maybe because no Variant has a ballistic slot for more versatile Weaponsetups. Blagg
Only a an idiot would use a single LRM5, unless you use it as enemy detection system by reading AMS fire posisions (this actually works, but too heavy). So basically you get another medium with a 2xMLas 3xSRM setup, or 4xSRM if the NARC tube is set to be wider. A Hugger can do this better, being faster, more agile, better hardpoint positions, better turning, better hitbox, better survival.
I am sick of getting more mechs that are just more of the same. We have plenty of mechs already. We need more weapons. Its starting to get pretty boring. Why would we want a mech that can only go 86 kph for NARCing, narcs are broken as is. Frustrating. Less mechs, more weapons please.
The problem with the "moar weapons" argument is that if they deviate from the timeline too much the MWO/BT Purists will scream that the sky is falling. They can't add endless weapons at this point but they can continue to add mechs. For the lest attentive mechwarrior, they will all appear as original ideas but lately, IMHO, Alex has been copypasta wizarding it. Also, HSR would kill some of the new possible weapons.
I understand that but its just getting old. At least a few new weapons, not a lot, just one or two more to break up the grind. Or different manufacturers of the same weapon with slight differences.
This is supposed to be coming somewhere "Down the road" as part of Faction Loyalty and Community Warfare stuff.
Gotcha. Arrrgh!! Frustrating. LOL, gimme gimme now!! It just seems like the mechs that have been coming out over the past few months have been just ok mechs that have builds that can be done better on other mechs. Its like there is less effort going into them and so we get more cookie cutter mechs thats just fluff. We need something fresh to sink our teeth into, I am getting malnourished
This I agree with. I think Alex has exhausted his creative supply of juice and that it might be time to let someone else step in for a bit so that the mechs have some fundamental differences. Right now I am starting to see Highlander parts and Dragon parts and mix and match going on.
Yea, the last few Mechs look rather similiar and feel similiar as well... Quickdraws and Dragons are interchangeable, Viktors are either oversized Centurions or smaller Highlanders, the Kintaro is very similiar to the Trebuchet and all look like Commandos... As I said in the other Kintaro rant thread, there are some Mechs (Lights nudgenudge) which would play differently from the four chassis we currently have and may break the Meta up as well.
So i guess we wait for the official release in September. I am very concerned that with all the problems in game now that it could fall flat on its face or more likely stumble for quite sometime and make it feel like its still in Beta. I have high hopes and will always remain positive and really really want this game to kick ass for years to come but I have a have a growing dread as we get closer to launch that I will be sorely disappointed. I soooooo want this game to succeed. BTW is community warfare hitting with game release on Sept 17th (think thats the right date)?
It is rolling out in stages... 3 stages I think... At this point we can only say for sure that it IS coming but nobody really knows when PGI will for sure do it.
Anyone besides me thinking of heat mechanics and scratching their heads? Given the heat scales and the latest patch where weapons are grouped - will not the Golden Boy count as having 5 SRM6's if he Alpha strikes? A lot of heat that. Better fire in groups with 0,5s delay.
Two groups with .5 seconds still makes this a devastating medium. Plus, is it just me, or is that Golden Boy paint job sexy as hell! I wasn't excited about the Kintaro, but the GB looks GREAT!
In all the years that I have been playing Battletech I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen the Kintaro hit the tabletop. Even the Quickdraw seems to me an odd choice to build excitement around MWO releases... just saying
Ya they need to quit fuckin around and actually give us something that feels different and we actually want to see. Or we could just wait for the project phoenix to come through, lotta cool shit in there.
