I was wondering how to make a Panther 10-K in MWO. Because I really want that mech in the game. Here's what I came up with. The armor is about spot on to the stock PNT-10K, its got a ERPPC and SRM4 w/ Artemis and one ton of ammo. The engine isn't a STD 140 because that would just kill this mech given the speed of MWO so I upped it a bit, and only have 11 DHS instead of 13, but DHS doesn't work quite right compared to the TT so I don't feel bad about it. I think its too slow to challenge its light mech peers, but as a sniper, this could work out well.
Without playing it or something similar (I don't use PPC's on lights), I won't rate it but you are correct. You don't really want to play with other lights. It is close to the Panther and will play a lot in a similar fashion, it's a sniper with some close range missiles for the right moment. Is Artemis really necessary? The mech is expensive already, hm.
@ Lan: Arty is only on there because the PNT-10K has it. Personally I'd remove it and put in some more armor and DHS or backup medium laser and probably a XL engine. I did this only because I wondered what a stock PNT-10K could look like in MWO. However the artemis does a great job tightening up the spread of the SRM, and that's a good thing. @ Vergere: Good move with the XL. The thing is a sniper and durability isn't as much of an issue. I put a standard engine in mine because that's what a PNT-10K has. However the canon says its got a std 140 and in MWO that means a dead mech of this size, so I upped it a bit at the sacrifice of heat sinks. The stock PNT-10K should have 13 DHS.
I like this whole notion of "take a Mech not in MWO and replicate its stock build in MWO." You have inspired me to bum around in the Battletech wiki and Mechlab to see what other Mechs I can "recreate" in MWO.
I'm a big fan of ERPPCs on lights. I run mine with ERPPC, 2 SSRMs, XL300. It is fast and can get behind the main force for annoyance but still hold its own against a light if need be.
