Today the JR7-D(S), AKA Sarah's Mech, was released and people snapped at the chance to pilot one of these "one of a kind, limited time only" battlemechs. In fact at last glance there were almost 6000 units of this mech sold which means they are very close to breaking the $60,000 mark for the Canadian Cancer Society! What an amazing feat!

This mech, for those that don't know the story (really?!?!) is a tribute to a little 5 year old girl, Sarah Parries, who played MechWarrior Online with her father; this was a little girl who not only fought imaginary battles in our imaginary world but also fought a real war in the real world. Sadly, that little girl is no longer able to fight either of those battles.

In the spirit of Community, Family and Solidarity the folks at PGI released the mech early! Whether you like the game, don't like the game, love the devs, hate the devs, whatever, I think we can all agree that this is one thing that has brought everyone, from every side of the yard, together!

Many of us got a chance to play with it today and some of us even formed 4 man lances of Sarahs Jenner in which we had a great time ROFLSTOMPING enemy pilots left, right and center. Some of the pilots of ACES got together and formed up with our JR7-D(F)s and took to the field. Hilarity ensued and a great time was had by all involved.

While this may be of no comfort to the family perhaps some how, some way, they will know that some good came from a horrible situation. I have lost a loved one to Cancer and am proud to run around in a multi-colored, teddy bear painted, cancer ribbon wearing little engine of metal destruction and I am sure everyone running this machine feels the same.

With that said, start up that fusion reactor, make sure that Teddy Bear Paint job gets a fresh coat of paint and take that machine out to whoop some serious ass! "Get 'em Good"

Although it's not my chassis of choice, it was fun to run around in a Sarah Jenner for a bit.

    Good video.

That was a lot of fun in a small package. Good encouragement to go out and get the mech, the video was tasteful and a good tribute to the intent behind the mech.

    Well done indeed.

Great job on doing this Michael!

This is the first tribute video I have seen and I am glad you guys at MechSpecs and Aces had the sense to put something like this together it touched my heart. Next time MechSpecs needs donations I will be there (again)!

see? thats what im sayin! a full 8v8 mech specs users tribute video with nothing but the jenners would be fun as hell and maybe Sarah's family would like something like that.
