My First Team Kill! (therapy needed)

I had my first team kill today... Circle strafing with a 'Fract in my Jenner and a friendly spider ran in front of me and I cut off the last of his CT. I was mortified. Still am. I think I need to seek professional help to deal with this.

Over 750 matches w/o a TK... Now, I'm "that guy."

For shame.

 

My first and only TK was when I was trying to get the hands on the 2xSRM6 4SP. I'm so bad with these, I hit with all of them just once.. And it was in the back of a Cicada. It made me laugh ^^ (even if I apologised after)


S*** happens, if you didn't mean it, it's not a big deal. Pretty sure he already forgot

 

I have a TK on my consciousness aswell, it's a few months old but I remember it clearly. I was playing a Atlas, Tourmaline. We were pushing in between two large crystal formations, about halfway into the round and the kills, slightly in the lead.

I stepped out, facing another atlas and we both knew it was do or die time. As I was firing the second volley, a mumble lancemate in a medium mech steps in the way of my AC20 and get's it in the back.

Still feel a bit bad about it even though I know he made the blunder, stepping between two assaults is never a good idea.

 

Well, I admire you folks coming in here and telling us what is on your hearts.


I remember my first team kill. Totally on accident. It did not matter, however, as he still died. Poor little Jenna'.

Anyways, I have done it quite a bit since then. Only folks who deserve it, mind you. It is a weird thing, dropping with someone in your lance and you go to move out into formation and someone just strafes your back. The first time you think "You stupid nub. Fire at the hills". The second time, you warn them, "Oy! You hit me again and I will blast the legs right out under neath ya." By the time you figure out they are not playing and turn on them, blowing them out of their cockpit feels good.

I had this very thing happen in a match with two guys both trying to TK us. Our lance melted them pretty quickly, but not before my entire rear was crit and I had lost a Gauss.


Anyways, hope it does not happen to you. It does get easier, though... if they are asking for it

 

I too, have team killed. This one was clearly my fault, the sum of two errors. The first was to use dual AC/20s to finish of a near crippled 'mech. The second was to fire said ordinance into a circle-strafing match. The third was to do so without warning.

I had the shot lined up, the enemy 'mech was dead to rights. However, by the time the bullets got there, the enemy had moved out of the way, and my shots hit my clanmate's Centurion right between the zombie lasers.

"I am so... so sorry" was all I could say.

 

Hm, maybe i shouldnt admit this....but ive killed probably somewhere around 6 teammates....or more.......and 5 of those 6 were deliberate . For some reason I find the teammates that love to start shooting me and others in the back and for some reason i cant stop from turning around and blasting them in the face until one of us dies. The only time I accidentally killed a teammate was when i fell backwards off a cliff in my D-DC and smashed a mostly dead treb...

 

I have teamkilled a few times. Never intentionally as far as I remember (not that I never wanted some teammate dead).

But the only TK I remember is not even mine. It was during closed beta (or early open beta), beginning of a game on caustic valley, a commando was joyfully gambolling ahead of me. When suddenly he explodes, and a friend on mumble starts too laugh out loud. Misfire from a gausscat, poor commando.

 

ya its a moment i dont think i could ever make happen again. i can set the scene for you though:

We were in tourmaline and it was close to the end of the fight. I happened to be up on one those high rock cliffs that you cant get on top of anymore without JJ just pew-pewing my LRMS and LLs. When a chainsaw ilya started comin up the cliff after me. Lacking the brawling ability to take on a chainsaw 1v1 CT to CT, i just started walking backwards tryin to escape. I fell off the side and when i hit what i thought was ground, i lost a leg and a friend .

Moral of the story: Dont walk backwards, it can kill teammates.

moments like that i wish we had replay capabilities. If i knew how to record matches i would as i seem to be a magnet for weird random crap...

 

It was on the new Canyon map. A Stalker was on one ridge while I (in a 3D w/ ERPPC, Gauss, and 2xML) on another. A team mate was on the ground about to JJ the ridge. Just as my team mate jumped out of the valley, I fired at the Stalker. Lesson of the match: have more rear armor next time. We won the match and the guy I TK'd wasn't mad, so it was a happy ending.

 

I actually had a pretty overt case of this a while ago.

So we are walking up the first hill on the far side by our base (the side with all the big hills and buildings etc). Anyways I notice he is sort of falling behind and I turn to look at him to see if he is having trouble getting up the one ridge. Tingle tingle, spidey senses tingle; you know that feeling you get when you look at a situation and you know something just isn't quite right?

I'm sitting there looking at him and he's looking at me; neither of us fire. It's like a staring contest.

This goes on for about 30 seconds.

Finally, I see text chat from my team and they need me so I turn and continue my ascent up the hill content to let the HM pilot do whatever stupid noobzors things he is attempting to do.

All of a sudden PLOW, KAPLOW, red flashy things....

ZOMG, WTF?!?!?!? I'm taking fire already?!?!?!

Quick check of the mini-map shows nobody is around me.

I turn around and it's the Heavy Metal and he is slowing climbing the hill towards me looking all pink and smug.

Being I'm a mod for MWO official forums I have to play all nice nice with people so I stated something along the lines of "Hey, accidents happen. Let us hope that is the last accident mkay?" and I continue my climb up the hill.

BLAMO, KAPLOW, BANG!

WTF? AGAIN?!?!?!? For Realzies??!?!?!

This time as I turn to look at the Heavy Meal he continues to fire at me.

Oh Hell no you didn't! It's on.

I unload dual ERPPCs followed by dual LLas in a staggared barrage. I think I sent 2-3 barrages of fire towards him.

ZZZZaaaaaap, Crackle, POP! Down goes the Heavy Metal.

"I warned you dude" (no response and he logs out)

I then went on to finish off the last 2-3 guys that my team had left. I actually WON this game for the team; was the last guy left at the end of the match and BARELY survived it as the HM Had banged me up pretty good before I had even engaged with the enemy. Most of my team was left over spectating and cheering me on.

This was one of the few matches that I wish I could go back and do over.... Cause I would SO be FRAPsing that muthatrucka! No not to show the HM attacked me but to show I kicked his ass and THEN I went and kicked their ass.

No this isn't e-peen lol as this isn't something that has ever happened again but that day I felt like a Juggernaut among noobs!

Had a few teamkills, most by accident and usually with a lot of TS rofling involved.

Got killed a few times as well, sometimes when crossing enemy fire etc.

And I had to do a few deliberate TKs due to some people trolling.

Most recent one was in Forest Colony. We had a DC and a player named "FuckingPiranhaGamesStoleMyMoney" (we can just assume it was a troll account, piloting a RS trial Atlas) started shooting the DC.

Okay, we are in TS and are still getting oriented when he stopped shooting and looked at one of my lance mates. we are about to go when BOOM, he lights him... he cusses in TS but we say "fuck it, maybe an error"

And then he fires again and my friend calls out "Fuck it, light em up!"

And so we turn around to get rid of him... and here comes the "funny bit".

He was starting to rant between shooting and being shot at "FUCKING PGI STOLE MY MONEY!"

He did so twice before we nailed him and then he left in a huff...

Needless to say, this ruined us as we were two down and my friend pretty banged up from the two Alphas he took.

 

First TK was kinda funny, then I guess it happens once in a while. I do not know the details since things are so far away. basically I locked on some atlas (or stalker) far away and started raining out LRMs left and right, then I got a TK, some jenner if I remember right. My guess is that he runs right in front of the missiles.
Moral of the story, if you see your teammates raining LRM on something, don't get too close if you are in a light that is critically damaged.

On the side note, I caused the other team a couple TKs too, hiding behind enemy mechs while getting locked and targeted by a horde of LRMs (I am in a cicada). That poor Jager did not see it coming.

 

Ohhh man... That is rough... Still made me laugh. But, the accidental TKs just feel awful.

 

The reverse of this was my crowing moment of badass in my merc corp. I defended an ailing stalker by jumping my spider into an Assault 'mechs attacks twice. I came out of it down both arms and exposed side torsos, but I kept my teammate live long enough for my team to come around and bail us out.

 

Wait till you hear NamesAreStupid's TK story from today and who he killed by accident in a cave on Forest Colony.
