    AS7-RS - Command and Control

This build is based off the build given to us by the AS7-RS(C).

I am a new(er) Atlai pilot and am still grinding through my Basics. One of the cool things PGI did was give me an Atlas to play with before I even bought it. I own my DDC and my D and thought I would go with the lesser of evils and just trial mech the RS, buy it without anything and sell it fast so I can move on.

This mech has completely changed my mind and has quickly become my favorite Atlas, if not robot in general. Here is why.

I have named this the Command and Control because of the relative nature of the Altas allows one to engage at three different ranges quite effectively without trouble. The LRMs and Gauss allow the RS to sit back and watch the battle unfold. This allows you to watch and react to the flow of the battle instead of being influenced by it. Is your lighter lance being flanked? Call for a target and rain. Are they being pushed back? Post up and loose your Gauss downrange to force folks back into cover.

This is where the Control comes in. I have begun to notice that LRMs and Gauss force folks to play differently than they normally do. When someone is targeted by LRMs, they back into cover. When they are rocked by a shot, they move into cover. I place my LRMs on chain fire so when I get a lock on something that is bothering a teammate, I fire off one salvo and forget it ever went up. For me, this is 15 ammo. For someone else, they are changing their strategies based on the knowledge that someone is actively targeting and shooting missiles at them. Should my LRMs hit, great. That is good damage and makes them think again about coming out of cover. If they do, and I can see them, more LRMs and Gauss.

This allows the pilot to control the flow of battle and relay that information to their company and adjust accordingly.

Once I am out of ammo, and I frequently run out, I wade into battle to take shots.

Notice I said take shots. The other important thing about this build, and being an Atlas in general, is intelligently placing your massive frame and armor values in the way of your teammates (providing they are worthwhile) to soak up damage they would have normally taken. Out of LRMs? Alpha the guy harassing your mediums then pop your MPL into chainfire and hit as many folks as you can. While they are focusing on your (remember, out of LRM, so you did lots and lots of damage already) your team can rip apart what is left. Remember to call targets. You are big and slow and have more time to read and talk. Use that time.

I would like feedback. My one major concern is that it runs very hot. If it concerns you quite a bit, swap the MPL with ML, but you will have tonnage left over. Anyone willing to assist with advice in this effort is very welcome. Also remember you will not be firing the LRMs and the MPL together usually and the Gauss is free heat. Usually I will alpha the lasers once to rattle the enemy and then switch to chain fire.

I would like to point out that this is not a really high damage build in most matches, though it obviously can be. I normally net around ~400+ damage with this but have topped 800 in Forest Colony. Below is a possible damage breakdown mixed with my actual stats

    Total Potential Output*: 1920 - 450 Gauss, 990 LRM15x2, 480+ MPL4x
    My Average Output**: 711 - 253 Gauss, 293 LRM15x2, 165+ MPL4x
    Realistic Output***: 537 - 204 Gauss, 234 LRM15x2, 99+MPL4x

*Based on firing all available ammo and landing all available shots. MPL based on 20 alphas per match.
**Based on my actual stats from MWOMercs profile, including percentages hit.
***Based on my actual stats firing 80% of my available ammo and 60% of the shots on MPL.
****All based on surviving the match and not being base capped

Here is another look at the build swapping MPL for ML, Arty for BAP and dropping Endo.

Overall it is cooler and you do not lose really all that much.

    Love the build!

    Possible mod:

Replaced the MPLs with MLs, better range and heat. Removed a DHS, heat is ok with the MLs. Changed an LRM15 to LRM20 for even more missiles. Upped the LRM ammo count to suit.

    Cheers,
    Ix

Yeah, I tryed out the trial mech, and I love it(almost same, just 4x ML).
C&C is the best, what you can say about this fitt. Yo ucan feel yourself like a commander, or admiral.
From back you can plan the strategy, deal some nice damage, push back the enemy, or in case of emergency just walk(yeah, an admiral never run :D) there, and punch into some mech face.
