I know Garth said he would love to see a 5 energy hardpoint Locust however that would mean that the Royal variant Battlemechs are in the game and being that Royals are more rare than a virgin on prom night it is unlikely that this will happen.

What versions do you guys think aside from the 1V will make it into the game?

I think it would be nice if this was the exclusive Locust that you get when buying into the Phoenix packages, make it more worthwhile.

As for which model I would like to see, I think this one would be awesome.

LCT-5M - The -5M was a straightforward enhancement of the -3M model, upgrading all of the lasers to extended range models, giving it one Magna Mk VI ER Medium Laser and four Magna Mk IV ER Small Lasers. In addition, the use of an XL Engine allowed engineers to upgrade the Locust's top speed to 194.4 km/h.

This one would also be good.

LCT-6M - The newest variant of the Locust, the 6M used a massive 280 Hermes XL Engine to propel it to an astounding speed of 226.8 km/h and was capable of bursts of speed reaching 302.4 km/h through a MASC system. The 6M used a Small Cockpit to save weight with the side effect of making the 'Mech harder to pilot and utilized Ferro-Fibrous armor to get the most of the light armor the 'Mech carried. It was armed with two Magna Mk VI ER Medium Lasers, which were backed up by a single Magna Mk IV ER Small Laser. The -6M was produced by Corean Enterprises on Stewart.

Now, unfortunately, I don't think we will see either in game due to:

    A: The current speed restrictions.
B: These look like they are being made well after 3050.

    Any news about this?
As far as I remember they said they capped it because of netcode issues (back then during closed beta), but who now if they care and/or if it's not BS.

I would guess the speed cap, and problems with it, are why we haven't seen the Flea

    I think you're right.

I just hope the fact they confirmed the Locust and definitely can't retract as people already preordered the mech means they're working on it (I hope so! it should have been on the priority list for more than 8 months) and got positive results.
And I hope that it won't be capped to the 170 engine as announced.
(I wonder if I'm not too optimistic and naive)

Well it doesn't look HORRIBLE. Better than the SPDR-5K at least.

The smaller engine size (and assumingly smaller torso) will make this thing a real pest methinks.

The LCT-5M is one of my favorite BattleMechs of all time. Awesome speed, maximum armor, extended-range weapons ... t's nearly perfect. The only thing wrong with it is that it uses single heat sinks, so it overheats easily.

Looks like Locust will be one of my favorites in MW:O (so far anyway), even if the design looks a bit funkier than I imagined...

You know what I just noticed? That cockpit is gonna be a bitch to see out of. 2/3 of your forward facing view will be instrument panel and the rest of the view is gonna be pretty restricted.

I don't know about that. Looks similar to a cat's cockpit, with 30% more claustrophobia :p

I think i might be seeing builds of this carrying AC2 ultra AC 5 AC 10 LBX AC 10 and God forbid AC 20(although I wander how they can fit that an AC 20 and AC 10)

what about the Locust-3M? is there any hope for the 5 laser variant? will we have to settle for a 4 laser variant?

Safe to say there won't be any any ac20-10- 5's unless they want a slow small mech with no armour, it does need an engine and heat sinks and is only 20 tonnes

Maybe ac2 for the first 5 minutes then going boom in a puff of smoke

Possitive side though can see maybe the flea soon, with or without masc as it'll have the same speed cap problems as the locust

of course then the arguments about which is best will happen though they are similar in use and looks

Russ confirmed on twitter that the 3M will have 5 energy hard points and 2 AMS's

Yeah I've been doing some pencil and paper work for the 3M and this is the Grimm Variant that I'm working on..

    2x MLas
    3x SLas
    1x AMS
    XL190

    Endo-Steel
    DHS (11 of them)

This will give the Locust a theoretical speed of like 169.3 kph (according to the math that DarkLobster calculated in this thread HERE). It would also give this Locust a firepower rating of 19 and a heat efficiency of something like 1.34+ (Assuming smurfy is correct with that data).

The one area I am not sure on is the armor values because I don't have any cap number to work with but we can calculate how much we can put on based on the remaining tonnage and that is 126 standard armor points.

3 medium lasers would probably be more heat efficient but only gives a firepower rating of 15.
