After the new patch I decided to give the new small pulses a try, and I gotta say I am impressed. I average 400 damage a match and reach into the 700 and 800s. Its easy to keep those little beams right on the sweet spot for half a second and before you know it they are ready to pew pew at them again. Because of the small beam time it is great for jousting back and forth and quickly firing and turning your torso around to spread out the damage instead of holding a medium on there allowing them to line that shot straight to your ct. I am eating other light mechs alive with concentrated damage and tearing armor off of heavier ones for my team to finish off. Sometimes it works the other way around to steal the kill . Of course the range is mighty short, so you gotta plan out your avenue of approach and use your head to not get stuck taking round after round while you close on someone. Heat management is manageable but keep an eye on it because you are thowing out damage so often your heat builds up before you know it. I keep 3 on one button, 3 on another, and keep a chain fire of all 6 for when my heat ramps up. -Sh4m3
Same here. I don't know if it's better than the classic medium lasers, but it's definitely a viable option. In a word you trade range for an easier heat management and concentrate damage (same DPS). It's deadly when it comes to light vs light engagement.
I saw someone with this build recently and thought "what an idiot" at first, then I remembered SPLas got buffed. I'm strongly considering this over 6xML (my original plan) because I'm running the later on my Cicada 2A. I don't think BAP is all that necessary without SSRMs, so I'd opt for something like this:
I run the same build than skribs posted and it's amazing, several games at 500+ damage (just unlocked speed tweak so it may also play a role). However I find the increased heat management and pinpoint damage enables me to disable other mechs much faster than the 6 ml build.
I had the beagle on there to use the sensor range since I was down a module but since I mastered it I have the extra module slot for sensor range module so I ended up using the extra heatsink and jj
I run my F like this now. Basically it allows me to assist some of my heavier buddies with my AMS as well as protect me while in tight corners where I can't outrun LRMs or out-turn them.
Sh4m3's build (first post) uses BAP. (I personally agree with Skribs, it's not a first priority equipment on this build)
I have spent the past week or two mastering the dragons' and commandos' chassis, and decided to hop back in the jenner's seat to try to decide if i want to master it. For the most part, i have always used practically the same builds as Sh4me's jenner and Mythweaver's Jenner. I have had amazing games with both. However, I have a heavy trigger finger(s) which bites me with Mythweaver's build. I do great damage, but heat has burned me many times (my fault, no one else). On Sh4m3's build, i really enjoy smacking around other lights, but it seems to lack the punch i enjoy at a distance. So... I decided to mix the two, maybe a jack of all trades, but master of none. When you get hot (and it will), hold fire on the ML's and fire all 3 SPL's (hopefully, you will be close enough) as much as you want, and every 6-8 seconds or so u can fire the ML's. I have also tried 2 ML's, 4 SPL's, and 4 ML's, 2 SPL's, but the 3-3 combo seems to be best when mixing the two. Disclaimer: I do not by any means assume I am some great light pilot. I am always trying to fix my mistakes in order to improve at it, as well as, watch the better pilots to see what they are doing. I am not on any premades or teams, I just drop in public games. I also do not take credit for this build, I assume many others have done the same. My mindset is, if I can, then so can you. =) Any thoughts or ways to improve as a light pilot much appreciated. - First drop with this build -
Love the build, I had been trying to do this, but kept missing 1 or 2 until I did it yesterday in this build. All 12 Assists. Obviously it helped that the matchmaker threw me on a very good team, but was still fun to do.
My second drop in this build I had 3 kills 5 assists and a little over 700 damage (someday I'll remember to get screen caps). Sick amount of DPS just gotta keep an eye on heat (like all energy boats). 5 stars.
