I've been trying a TON of builds on the Ilya (what a versatile chassis!) and have had ac20 + ac10, triple LBX (omgggg) ac10 + erppc, all of which are awesome.

But this one surprised me the most. I have not used medium pulse lasers even after 1000 matches into the game, lol. For some reason this combination has been completely and utterly brutal.

Those are my most recent games with this.

90 rounds and 14 DHS with nearly max armor gives as much staying power as you can get for the chassis without a standard engine which I rarely recommend with the Ilya.

I use this build exactly like the triple lbx build where I play somewhat conservatively until I've chosen a target or they cross a certain threshold. Seems to work really well for me

Seems pretty solid. Basically a Gaussmets with smaller guns and a bigger engine.

I might move the CT ammo to an arm, though.

With a bit of tweaking, you could cram an XL 325 in there. I did it by removing 3 HS and a ton of ammo. However, downgrading to MLases and dropping 2 HS would also work. You also get .5 tons of armor back to protect those leg bins.

You only need to downgrade the MPLs to MLs to get a XL330.

Hmm tried this out today. Pretty decent. Do you chain fire ac 10's?

Of course you can adapt this to your playstyle but just some comments on the replies:

Nope, I don't chain fire them or the pulse lasers. The 300XL is the largest XL I have so that just ended up in there but I don't want to sacrifice the stabby mcstabberson nature of the pulse lasers for the standard medium lasers. And I'm actually going through my builds to see if I can change standards for pulse because they are much more effective than I remember.

I'm not terribly concerned about the ammo placement as the ammo in the CT will be gone after 30 shots. Also, I have been encountering more and more people shutting down in combat and with this setup and amount of DHS I can stay in sustained combat for as long as I choose.

I don't even have speed tweak and I think this and the triple lbx are juuuust right for my tactics on the Phract :) I love cool running mechs with relentless staying power

Wait till heat tweaks come in to play. Pulses will do more damage yes but they will carry a not to insignificant heat increase and if builds aren't used to it then there is gonna be kaka trouble.

Then this mech is positioned well for such changes as it runs quite cool already :D

Using a version of this with 1 less DHS, 1 less ton of ammo, 1/2 ton more leg armor and an AMS for the tournament and I'm keeping track of the results for the individual rounds:
    • 943 - 4-2 w-a (damage, kills, assists, win/loss, alive/dead)
      [*]351 - 3-2 w-a
      [*]423 - 2-5 w-a
      [*]361 - 1-6 w-d
      [*]576 - 3-1 l-d
      [*]507 - 1-4 w-a
      [*]312 - 1-1 l-d
      [*]286 - 2-2 w-a
      [*]484 - 4-1 w-a
      [*]654 - 1-2 w-a
      [*]424 - 1-1 l-d

    23 kills, 27 assists, 483 average damage. I love AC10s!
