High speed, heavy damage, jump jets, decent armor, good heat efficiency, and ECM.

EDIT: It's been a few months since I updated this, so here's my latest version. I sacrificed some JJs and added FF armor in order to deal with the new SRM damage buffs.

Credit to Alik Kerensky for making the initial build-I'm posting it in mine so that it can be rated.

I had the best time in this mech last night, in one game I got 3 kills (not kill steals) I was widely hated by the enemy team. And it made me happy :D

I dropped 2 JJ in favor of some more armor, most fun I've ever had in a 30 ton

Here are a couple of examples from last night of what is possible in this build. My buddy DarkLobster and I wrecked the enemy in our lights!

    Holy sweet *bleeeep*...

That's right, here's one of those nail biting, heartpounding games that you only hear about caught on film. A SDR-5D goes berserk with 2 (3 actually) medium pulse lasers and nearly wins the game. In the end...well, see for yourself.

I literally had to chill for a few minutes after this one. Think it is fair to say I can learn a few more things as a light pilot but this was a epic fight. Apologies for the swedish Mumble chat in the background but that's how I play and it will always be in my movies.

PS: As somone asked me after viewing the movie, "Why didn't you use the 2 weapon group and the third pulse laser?" - I actually forgot my setup for a while there. I have the third for when I can go into overheat mode and alpha settings. If I use that I tend to heat up much more and I decided early on not to push it too much since it was all brawl. At the end, I should have used it on the Atlas.

PPS: Also, someone asked, "Why do you fire when you are out of range?" If you are going to play as a light brawler, stressing the enemy out is your primary task to enable the damage dealers to go to work more unimpeded.

This is the loadout that I was using at the time. AMS went on as a test to see if it has effect on SSRM's earlier this month instead of a BAP that I was using to enable friendly locks on my target. I am also using Seismic and Capture Accelerator modules, the efficiencies are only at basic level as I haven't given the other spiders so much love. Yet. Think I will now tho..

That's why I love the spider, it's amazing how many epic games you got on this little thing.
5D and 5K variants are pretty good, but unfortunately the 5V is kind of useless and boring to grind.

I love the PPC+ML build, but 3*MPL is strong too. I also find LL+2*ML a good choice if you want some range.

    So what do you think?

    edit:
If you're speaking about the Hunchback you kill at 4'50", the delay between your shot and his death is because he's dead of ammo explosion. It take some time to spread.

Swedish is soooo strange to hear. Btw nice vid! Indeed you never use your third MPLas. Seems like you should play the 5V Tie Fighter mode (then I just thought it lacks ECM). I really need to buy a 255XL to try these babies.

I have yet to form a opinion of the SSRM and AMS, it's difficult to prove with hard evidence unless I get a teammate I can co-op with vs a SSRM mech.

You played a pretty epic round yourself today with one of my friends, Kinekin.

I have the 5V and run it in with dual mplas already, I did that with the 225 to get the full 12 jets but speed is really better. Had serious fun jumping though...

Why a 225XL ? This build has a 255XL, 10/12 and can even go 12 without the BAP. Like you said, can't wait to fly myself ^^

    Oh! I remember this game!
It's the first game right after the server update, 5 seconds after the launch almost everybody is disconnected (hence the "LOL? - wtf"). Only left Kinekin in stalker and me in spider on on team, a jenner, a jag and a catapult on the other.

Too bad I didn't record it, because it's the kind of games that greatly show how fun (and efficient) it can be to pilot a spider. Especially the last I killed, the cat, poor guy, I was jumping over his head over and over, cutting one ear and the second, he had no chance.

PS: I was actually testing with the AMS. Like you said it's really hard to tell if it's useful or not. I'll stay like that for a few days, but most likely I'll trade it for one DHS and one JJ.

I'll have to check the build later, can't as I'm already late for my nephews b-day party and I'm bringing the Lego... ;)

He showed it to me as a remarkable game and I recognized your nickname, specially when he described it was a spider that kicked the living daylights out of the enemy team. :)

I will have to drop with Kine (who is also a very good spider jockey) and run dual spiders on recordings so we can see if AMS actually does anything.

    Now, b-day party for a 7 year old. :)

I tried these two variants without changing armour-values from my ER PPC-build. If the AMS doesn't seem worth it in the future I'll change the ML to a third MPL. I'll have to test these out for a while but so far I'm not using the ML that often. I have way better heat-effeciency with the double heatsinks and it's impossible to overheat with using only the two MPL.

Nothing really special, but works well and 0.1 ton light. :D

    Group #1 2x MPL (RA)
    Group #2 1x MPL (CT)

This is very similar to the Shadowblade loadout, I will be merging the two together.

I do think the "who needs PPC" runs quite differently from the "Shadowblade" though.

Shadowblade have way more JJ but a bit less leg armor (the left hand armor is useless since it is too small to shield). I have been running the shadowblade (slightly different distribution with 1 armor on left hand) and it is good.

I've updated my build for the new patches, so please take a look and re-rate it if you think it's worthwhile.

I tried dropping a couple JJs for another DHS last night because I find those MPLasers run pretty hot. Seems to be working pretty well so will probably stick with it.

Great build though. I think of it as a tiny assassin. It's great for taking out bigger mechs with surgical strikes to the rear.

I am currently running 3 MPLs as well, although I still like trolling with an ERPPC or going evil with LL + 2ML. As the MPLs are heating up the mech quickly I prefer to run two additional DHS, though.

It's a hell of a build for strafing runs, hunting down opposing lights or even killing heavies and assaults.

Having lost of fun with this, 200+ damage is very common and even 300+ is not out of the ordinary.
