I have had... very, very limited amounts of success with this.

You need to make sure that you are with as many teammates as possible to avoid dying a rapid (even by MDD standards) death. That being said, there's something truly satisfying when you can double fire both without a damn cannon jamming. Works best when things have taken minor to moderate amounts of CT armor damage, unless it's an assault. A fresh Atlas takes roughly 7 bursts straight to the front CT.

*DISCLAIMER* There are about 80, probably more practical, builds for a MDD on this forum.

The thing is, MDD is mostly built for missiles, that is probably why big ballistic builds does not functional well with this guy. I suggest ebonjaguar.

@enileph The most limiting factor in your example is the available tonnage for weapons between mechs tbh. Of course hard point location is a thing that makes some mechs better than others, but as long as you have the tonnage and the hardpoints, the same builds are possible. MDD is fairly just too light (just 60t, and a 65t Jagermech is already pushing it) compared to the 75t EBJ.

2 less heavy weapons could be done for example:

Of course this is destroying your burst capabilities.

Not to steal the thread, I've had such a problem running either of these chassis I am ready to scrap the whole line. especially the EBJ... by the way, way too little armour on that MDD.... at least with the EBJ you can go asymmetrical, which gives it some merit as a brawler.... head on though it's just such a big target.

Personally I would say MDD is only good for missiles, makes a nice LRM boat, and some nice SRM/Streak builds.
EbonJaguar have good hardpoint positioning but requires you to usually strip an arm to be effective.

Everything said is true. The MDD is too squishy to get in the thick of a brawl even with full armor, let alone with almost half of it gone. Honestly the only effective builds I've played use missiles extensively, especially in CW.
I mostly run builds like this because I have only 3 MDDs and 1 TBR in my mechbay. I should probably invest in an assault next, given my attraction towards in your face builds. Suggestions for a guy who's trying to get better now that he's hit T3 and seen how good people can be? (Not right place for that question, I know)

Well, heavies are just as good for in your face as assaults, they're a bit more mobile in exchange for armor, but mobility often saves more damage than armor in the game.

The EBJ are very good in the current meta, you should probably look into those (but finish your TBRs first, and make sure to join a unit / make a 1-man unit so you can earn free mechbays in faction warfare!)

Agreed! TBR's are like the clan goto mech for me. When I'm having a bad night in the cocpit and it seems like I can't win, I jump in my 2x cUAC10 build, and it makes everything okay.
Assaults are hard to play correctly, and harder to master
Tier three.... what can I say..... I've come across some good pilots in tier three (most of them from higher tiers), but I've also come across some real crap players.... suggestions? same as any tier. don't lone wolf, stick with your team... even if they are in a bad position, don't turn your back on an enemy, listen to the comms, use the comms, use cover, don't shoot your teammates, and pay attention to your mistakes, so you don't end up repeating them.... Oh yeah, and have fun.... it is a game.

Sound advice, I'll do that. I do like playing my TBR, although I miss the torso turn rate when I immediately go into it from the MDD.

Hah, it is a game. No point playing if you aren't enjoying it. That's how Destiny ended up for me before I switched to MWO. I'll keep in mind that an Assault isn't as easy as it seems at first! I sometimes get frustrated by the lack of cohesion in a lot of the T3 public drops, as in when 5 go off or stay back and the rest of our push dies with almost no kills. That's expected though, really. One thing piloting a MDD is good for is learning to use cover and not lone wolfing around. Replaced this UAC20 build with something different (another build post! :D) and it seems more fun for teamwork.

    TL;DR @Excalibaard @SkiDog
    Thank you for the advice!
