This build is a departure from my usual design philosophy in that it uses two options that I generally regard as tactically ill-advised. Although UAC5s offer the ability to put multiple shots down range in quick succession, the possibility of the weapon jamming, particularly when fired full auto, could rob you of some much needed fire-power during a potentially critical stage in a fire-fight. I also usually steer clear of installing an XL engine in my builds, due to the innate fragility an XL engine confers to a builds side torsos, particularly in heavy or assault builds, which by default have quite large torso sections. However, sometimes we need to step outside of our comfort zone in order to really experiment with a particular idea, so here goes. My inspiration for this build came from the 'Chainsaw' build posted by ProtoformX. To reduce ammo dependency, I switched out a UAC5 for an ERPPC. The two remaining UAC5s can still churn out high amounts of damage in short order, with the ERPPC providing high pin-point damage out to very long ranges. Two MLas act as back-up weapons. An AMS module, replete with 2000 rounds is more than sufficient for dealing with any missile threats throughout a typical match, while eight tons of reloads for the UAC5s confers a huge amount of combat persistence. Armour rating is good at 12.5 tons and while the installed engine is an Extra-Light version, the builds speed as a result is better than that which would be present if a Standard Engine of the same weight was used. The Beagle Active Probe enhances the builds ability to detect targets at long range, which it can then engage with the ERPPC and UAC5s.
I think for 2 UAC5s, you can drop two tons of ammo, and I find I rarely burn through 1000 AMS ammo before LRMs have killed me. Take those off, you should be able to add a couple DHS.
With the recent buff to the AC/5's, it is also viable to switch the ultras out. A .4 reload delay will be minimized with the Fast Fire tweak. Still not as fast as an ultra, but definitely more reliable.
That's true. If you reduce the engine rating a little, you can actually fit 3 on here along with the ERPPC and MLas.
@ thewatchman_17 I just gave it a try and this is a very nice build. 5 tons (150 shots) of AC5 Ammunition might be sufficient, so that either the XL280 can be kept or the armor buffed up a bit.
Here's my version, though if I had an XL265 I'd definitely try watchman's take: Potent! 550+ damage every game so far with it.
