    As a gift to this community from which I've learnt so much, I share with you my mech, Sandoval, which in my eyes, is the perfect laserboat. It has a deadly pinpoint alpha of 66. Optimal engagement range (with TCOM and Range nodes) is 392m. Long before that, at 690m, you can start firing off your 2 LPLS during standoffs.

    It really is the perfect mech. Save for the lack of ECM, which in my humble opinion is no big deal, it has defence in the form of LAMS (remember to switch it off once you start engaging in brawls though, 3 HPS is no joke if there are missiles flying about.), it has TCOM 1 to speed up your targeting info + laser range boost, and a respectable 71 kmph for the amount of firepower and double heatsinks(27!) you're boating.

    Design Thoughts

    Especially after the recent MPL buffs, in my view, MPLs is one of the most, if not the most, efficient pinpoint damage dealers in game. When the laser balance changes came about, I started to boat 9MPLS. However having to split the damage 6/3 due to ghost heat was irritating and while the engagement range of 392m with a Tcom1 was still great, matches where there are long standoffs (ie New Frozen City or Alpine Peaks) really left me twiddling my thumbs. I yearned to be able to do respectable damage during this phase of damage, and also have a stronger alpha. that 0.5 second delay makes it just-that-much harder to get as much pinpoint damage on a specific body part.


    On Weapon Placement:
    I also dislike asymmetrical mechs and designs in general, but feel free to group up the LPLs on one side, or put 1 of the LPLs in the centre for better side peeking. I put 2 MPLs in the centre instead because I don't side peak as much as i hill peek, so the higher mount on the left torso is better than the CT for me.

    The true beauty of this mech is how cool it runs and how many DHS it can boat. An alpha on Tourmaline hits around 47%, but cools off rapidly to around 33% before you can alpha again. You should be alpha 3 times on Tourmaline before shutting down. And if you wait for an extra 3 seconds before firing the 3rd salvo, you should be able to hit 4 alphas before shutting down. Or you could push that coolant button. :)

    Other then the LPL HML build, this is really the best laser boat out there for MAD.

    I use a XL375 engine and 1 less MPL but the concept is really the same.

    I've since decommissioned the LAMS for being too hot. Used the extra ton to up to a 355XL instead. :)
