But wait!!!!!! Guess who is busting out his wallet this time? Can't pass up on the Ilya! See? All they have to do is bust out a little creativity and be in touch with what the community wants and they get me to spend 100$. I need to get the MC to purchase a mechbay or two, some colors, the Ilya and probably some GXP conversion as well. Was that so hard? Wanna bet they make a killing tomorrow?
I almost wonder if their plan was to get us to the point where we're basically starving so we all pounce on a good sale? Not that it would have mattered (although for financial reasons, I'm glad I didn't have the temptation to buy MC the past few weeks). Unfortunately I already have the Fang and Flame, but its my chance to get the Ilya. They've recently done mediums and now heavies, maybe next month I can get both Misery and Heavy Metal? I can dream...
You are not alone... I may not get Misery (I've never stepped into a Stalker yet) but the HM is also on my list.
You won't see it on the official site until tomorrow... MechSpecs always has top secret access and knows everything about the game that ever was... Also, I checked my email.
Ah, well that makes me feel stupid. There it is right in the inbox. The disadvantages of using a secondary eMail account for game accounts, I guess.
Despite the Jump Jet nerf ? Cause I've been thinking, the only thing that make you go for a Highlander instead of an Atlas are Jump Jets.
Um, well for arm-mounted ballistics I think the Heavy Class has better platforms. AC40 Jager, Chainsaw Ilya, Dual Gauss 3D, you name it.
Yes but for me it is about making myself useful to my team / corps. If I am assigned an assault mech for that match, with a specific role style, then I have one available. If I am assigned a medium mech for that match, with a specific role, then I have one available.
You also have more firepower backing up that ballistic in an Assault. It rounds out the build instead of defining it.
Just to put things into perspective for people... Ilya on sale is $14.69 Ilya not on sale is $20.98 It is also one of the better hero mechs in the game!
I'm kinda unimpressed looking at its hardpoints. What's so great about a 3rd ballistic? Just being able to mount one on each arm for easier aiming?
30% Cbill boost 3x UACs (1 in the arms for mega aiming) Decent speed and firepower and heat management for its size (shrugs) if you aren't impressed don't buy LOL On my first PUG drop in the Chainsaw I did 530 damage with 2 kills (no pilot tree upgrades)
The Chainsaw build is very high DPS, especially for a heavy. Unlike some of the Jager/4X builds, it can actually hold several medium lasers. If you want dual Guass, the 4X/3D are viable options (both slightly better than a Jager IMO). If you want dual AC/20 you have to go Jager or K2. However, this provides a very nice platform for 3 UACs (most common use) or 3 AC5s (less common, no jams), or you can go bigger and do 3 LB10s. The Jagermech may have more crit slots on its ballistic arms, but the Cataphract has more tons to make use of, and the 3xUAC Ilya is much more rounded out than the 4xUAC Jager.
I do have 3x UAC5s already, but for the life of me I can't figure out why, I don't own any mechs with 3 ballistic slots... I really don't like the Jager and I've started my Cataphract collection already (3D). I was just curious what made the Hero-Cata "one of the best heroes". Thinking about picking it up since it's a frame I'll actually pilot and it gets such high marks from good players such as yourselves, lol. No interest in the Dragons, the frame seems very...awkward to me. The Quickdraw looks like it's going to be a decent substitute for Dragons that come with the option of JJ, just lose ballistics for missiles. Thanks for input!
I did a build recently on the Muromets with 2 uacs in the arms and an AC 20. Great DPS AND burst damage for multiple play styles. It is amazing and super fun.
