  1. I guess this is a thing now.
No ghost heat penalty (April 2021).

    Update:
    Micro Pulse Laser (Clan):

    • Damage decreased to 2.8 (from 3.0)
    • Heat penalty minimum level set to 13 - Fire 12 with no heat penalty
Notes: The combination of damage and range increase as well as removal from the heat penalty system in April turned C-Micro pulse lasers into a potent back-up/complimentary weapon on a large variety of 'Mechs. While the changes achieved the intended goal of making them into viable weapon options for a wide range of 'Mechs, some were able to push the balance boundaries through sheer number of energy hardpoints, which allowed them to bring high alpha damage, high dps, low heat, and high speed to the table at the same time. To address this, this patch includes a slight damage reduction to the micro-pulse lasers, as well as re-activation of the heat penalty system (at 13). These changes are still in line with the defined objective in terms of increased damage, range and heat penalty limit (compared to pre-April stats). Micro pulse lasers will continue to be monitored to see the effect of the applied changes.

    ...
The quick cool down means you can get 90 damage out before most other weapons are ready to get a second shot.

How much heat you generating post-skills with this thing?

  3. About 28%, can get four alphas on Caustic.

You had better be almost into cover before that 4th shot.
Takes a while to cool down.
And this chassis does not tank damage well at all. Very high chance of instance death due to side torso destruction.

Has a very feast/famine sort of feel.

Took this guy out for his first match...lost a leg, but...

Best part was, when I lost the leg, 2 heavies that I'd been annoying tried to rush me...and caught 90 damage each to the CT, dying in the process XD Rare that I survive in a one-legged light.

  5. Yah, for every really good game I have another where I am a bit too aggressive or take a long range shot and lose a side torso early.
I need to be a bit more cautious and pay attention so I can disengage and cool down.

Curious what they're gonna do with these weapons after the balance pass, because this mech seems completely insane. Even if it's restored to a 8 max ghost heat limit, should be not too hard to stagger.

  8. You can essentially recreate with small pulses and er micros. More alpha and range. Less dps.

If you could do this on an ECM mech, I would say it would 1000x need a nerf hotfix right now...one of the only reasons that I don't feel completely bad about this is that, without an ECM escort, you run a pretty high chance of being spotted while trying to get behind things, and the Piranha is not exactly a damage sponge. That said, I had a round earlier where I 2-shot 7 mechs in a row from behind, half of them assaults. Just popped a cool shot after the 2nd mech, and stopped to cool off after the 4th. If this build catches on, I suspect you will see a nerf to micro pulse in the very near future...it's a risk vs reward situation with their tiny range, but being able to fire this many at once without GH is just a bit much. Being able to put out 90+ damage within a couple seconds for a 20 ton mech is a bit obscene XD

  10. With the Micro Pulses, you find out very quickly if the enemy has seismic or not.

Not micro pulse, ie, normal ghost heat legal build from before. More range, bit higher cool down, but you can work outside of seismic range easier.
