This mech was a challenge and three quarters to find a suitable build for it, and somehow I managed to clobber this mess together. Since ballistic weapons overall are very weight intensive, our energy weapons are going to have to be light. Medium lasers were the best choice in this case due to them only needing one slot and one ton to fit and individually did 5 points of damage.

After much fumbling around with various ballistic setups and encountering many weight issues, I finally came across this build, a dual RAC 2 setup for hosing down enemies from afar paired with an LBX 10 for punching enemies who get close. If you need to let go of the trigger for the RACs to cool or unjam, or if you run out of ammo, the medium lasers are a great fallback option. The downside is that you're a little slower than the average heavy mech speed, but you're packing quite a bit of firepower in exchange so don't feel bad if your not the first to the front line.

Please post any questions, comments, concerns, or ideas below. I'm excite to hear your feedback.

The Ilya is definitely showing its age, so many better options nowadays!

I like that even in 2020 there are new builds being invented, looks pretty fun to play!

I feel the RAC ammo may be a bit high. Low mounts means you'll likely get to use the RACs in brawls or short bursts. I'd probably also switch LAMS to regular AMS, so it won't affect the heat ramping while using the RACs. For the rest, it looks very solid. I made a version using UAC10, which may provide a little more burst at the cost of heat and reliability (but you get double benefit from the RAC/UAC skill nodes).

You make very excellent points. When I was play testing my own build, I found more times than not that if I wasn't exposing myself to some degree, the RACs weren't getting used as much as I'd like. Plus with the geometry of the mech, it wouldn't take to long for me to get shoulders blown off, so I will say that it isn't the most optimal of builds, but every now and then I get a satisfying match where I can get all the guns to bear and get a few kills.

I do agree with your suggestion on the AMS over L-AMS, the heat ramping issue can definitely pose a problem. I'm just personally an advocate for the infinite ammo of the L-AMS which is really the only reason why I chose it over the ballistic in every case if I can help it. But for anyone else, it is definitely a valid suggestion. Thank you for your input, I look forward to hearing from you in the future.
