Do some of the cockpit hitboxes seem huge or sometimes way too small? Maybe that's just part of MW, but it seems a little silly. You'll blast a cockpit with lasers and the CT takes damage and the cockpit is undamaged. Other times, like in the King Crab, I lost cockpit health before anything else. It doesn't make sense from a design standpoint to make the cockpit exposed on assault mechs but embedded and very hard to hit on medium. I guess it just seems like the hitboxes on the cockpits are really inconsistent with the mech model and they're either very exposed or not located in the proper area on the mech. I've also noticed that Gauss projectiles seem to have a very large hitbox, causing them to impact whatever they hit first with a large hitbox instead of more pin point precision. That may cause some inconsistency with damaging certain locations. I'm not a battle tech buff or anything, so maybe "oops i put the cockpit unarmored out in the open" or "muahaha this fake cockpit will fool them all" is part of lore and I just gotta sell this KC.
I haven't given MW5 a lot of time, but I would guess they are reusing a lot of MWO models. So this link may help. https://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/274181-hitbox-localization-2/ Just because there is a "window" doesn't mean that it is part of the head hitbox.
The head hitboxes are definitely bigger in MW5 compared to MWO. Annihiliators and King Crabs in particular are pretty bad.
