Same here. I probably will get at least the HBK package, but might also buy the whole thing as that HGN (O) variant will make the best 'Pussy Wagon' ever... it even got the right camo sheme. Veteran users will get this easily, all the others probably will have to look through my Heavy Metal builds to understand this reference.

Oddly enough I think the Orion IIC can easily compare with the Timberwolf thanks to being fully customizable and the only restriction being the hardpoints of the respective variant. The Timbers' XL375 eat a lot of weight, and the Orion can get easily away with a 300- or 325-sized engine. Timbers' only advantage will be the option of using JJs, and a fully optimised Orion IIC will deliver a hell of a punch for sure.

EDIT: for getting the full package a lot depends on both of the July patches. PGI still needs to deliver a lot and has to fulfill promises made. Let's see if they can do it.

I second this 100%! Will wait for pulling the Trigger end of this Month. Let's see if PGI deserves a bit moar cash by delivering some REAL content.. Only for new Mechs every each month, I'd say - better invest the money into other FULL games.

I'm playing the game regardless of what new patches will bring. Full pack bought.

Only get the Jenner first then, you can upgrade later if you really want.

I would say they did a great job at (re)designing the Jenner look for IIC, and the old school pattern. And I rarely say it this way.

The Jenner IIC (preorder variant) surely will be a Beast in the Lights Class with all the Energy HPs. I myself am personally looking forward to the preorder exclusive variants of the bigger guys with really great Hardpoints compared to the regular variants - Only Hunchy with Arms HPs, only Orion/Highlander with Double Clan-Ballistics - that rocks! So i am close to buy the Big Pack, but on the other hand - i need to save some money for a GFX Upgrade -> the R9 Nano is about to come out with super high Energy Efficiency at the Performance Lvl of the GTX 980.

So, this is noteworthy considering how these have gone in the past:

Looks like they finally paid attention to the vocal painters. If they stick with this, hopefully we'll get around to being able to redo patterns on older packages and heroes too!

It does conflict with further down, but I'm hoping this entry was just copy/pasted and will be updated to reflect the above instead of pooping the party:

Did anyone else notice that the hunchback with the most lasers has 4 Jj 8 lasers with two CT mounted or the jenner with 10 Jj and four energy? The spider 5v one of the only mechs that can fly to the top of the walls on hpg just became obsolete.

It is a pretty big slap in the face, that's for sure.

I think it's the dislike for the power creep... although I don't think it's wise to judge this prior to the complete overhaul of the quirk system scheduled for August.

Just the way life goes,... models become obsolete or get a second life. You can't have that amount of mechs, grow their number AND expect them all to be competitive with one-other,...

To be fair, part of the issue is the way Clan-techwas originally designed in the original TT. I seem to recall someone mentioning a creator quote that if they could have a do-over, they would have designed clan tech differently because it IS flat out superior with no trade-offs. That's not even talking about omni-pods, just things like DHSs and XLs taking up less slots (with no trade-offs at all), and the way that some clan weapons do run hotter but the ratio of reward (range, accuracy, damage) is just out of whack. Whether this quote is real or not, as I can't seem to find it, you don't need dev input to see that Clans were the original power-creep and they did so in a pretty huge way. There's a reason why tech levels exist in TT and Standard is, well, standard.

Some of what PGI has done to translate the tech in-game has, if anything, toned that down somewhat...and I'm not talking about quirks since they've mostly done away with the negative ones. The sort of philosophy of IS short-fire vs Clan burn-time certainly doesn't fix everything, but it at least helps. I'm actually kind of disappointed at how much clan ballistics were buffed recently. Less that it happened at all, but more just how far they went with it. The stream is now so close together and so much faster it comes very close to defeating the purpose of having it behave that way at all.

*shrug* I dunno. They're clearly trying. It counts for something in my book.

It isn't a slap to the face yet, and if it becomes one mwo has always flip flopped because of complaints

    Indeed.
I already wrote this, but I absolutely hate all this clan and IIC bullshit.

    Yup.
I haven't even look at the other mechs, but the Jenner better have some serious drawback.

I don't want to play a game where buying the newly released mechs is mandatory to keep up with the armament race and stay competitive. This is not real life with technological progress (and I hate how this justify sucking money from the player base).
New mechs should bring variety to the gameplay, not make the old mechs obsolete. If there is no more variety to bring, well, there is no point on releasing new mechs.

The problem is two fold. The battletech universe flat out sells clans as the superior side and secondly we follow a time line. Mechs pre 3050 aren't going to be as good as mechs post 3050, unfortunately this is demonstrated regularly in RL technology moves quickly. How much flavour do we drop in seeking a balanced game where a mech A from 3050 is as good as mech B from 3062. Most games address this problem with a tier system to prevent 1930s tanks or planes facing off against 1950s tanks or planes.

I think PGI are doing a reasonable job. I don't think we have ever been at a stage where a mech pack was required to be competitive. The next mech pack will be IS omnimechs.

Won't matter too much in a few months anyway. As soon as the timeline moves forward and the IS gets rotary ac's, heavy gauss rifles, capacitor ppc's and mixed tech mechs the clan players will be screaming that the IS is overpowered now. Behold the never-ending cycle.

To be honest with you I'm surprised they haven't already. MWO has whittled down to mostly hardcare BTech fans and/or TryHards with a slow trickle of new players coming in. The Hardcore are the fans with the most knowledge of the mechanics of the game and the lore. Knowing this tech is coming they haven't yet started up a lynch mob but it is only a matter of time.

    It is a tactical move...
They will do it after steam launch or something like that, the idea is to give the new players new toys to counter the stuff horded by the old players, after they all buy the clan packages, an obvious way to make more $$$.

We all know what a RAC20 can do, and we all know about things like longtoms, tornado missiles and melee...
They hide it so they can release it once most new players buy their clan packages.
