Hello peeps, see the blurb below: Spoiler: April Road Map March summary: Full delivery of the Resistance pack, a new CW map, and a massive amount of bug fixes and improvements to existing systems. Here is what we have in store for you in April. April will have patches on the 7th and 21st, like in March the first patch will contain more content and the second patch will be primarily focused on bug fixing and polishing of the existing product. --- Looking for Group - Another one of those long desired features finally making it's way to MWO. In this screen players can set themselves as looking for group, browse others in the same situation, merge groups and other useful actions. I expect this will help more players experience coordinated team work in both the public group queue and of course Community Warfare. Released April 7th patch. New CW map - Name to be announced but it has a forest/mountain theme. Released April 7th patch. Urban Mech - Long awaited and famous Urban Mech. Released April 7th patch. Important Misc. Items: - Map name displayed in 60 second countdown in Community Warfare, no more need to count squares. - Jump Jet animation fixes for worst offending mechs Firestarter, Victor, Enforcer and Timber Wolf. - Quirks Pass on Clan mechs both new and some iteration on others - New IS map Algorithm - fixes bugs but also future proof to support upcoming features to CW. - FXAA Enabled. - CW maps now accessible from the training grounds. - Updated repair tool. - IS will now have one drop tonnage for both IS vs IS and IS vs Clans. - Fix for excessive particles being rendered as mechs run hot. Released April 7th patch. Crash reporting - crash reports can now be sent directly, pop up will ask you if you would like to send the crash report to PGI. Released April 21st patch. New Patcher - Patcher is going through an extensive improvement Released April 21st patch. CW Game mode fix - an improvement will be made that will negate the main advantage large population flooding has on CW. In short the first team into the Queue will no longer determine the game mode being played and their will be equal opportunities given for Invasion and Counter Attack. Complicated and difficult subject to explain that I plan to discuss in real time in an upcoming town hall, for now just know it will be a significant improvement on the fairness of CW. Released April 21st patch. Wolverine Champion - Self Explanatory Released April 21st patch. Also there will be a significant amount of bug fixes that are far to numerous to list as a portion of the team will be focused on bugs that will be included in the April 21st patch. Anything of significance will be listed in the April 21st patch notes. One item worth noting is that the new Mech lab HAS entered test, we will provide more updates on it's progress when we have them. Thanks for playing and your support. Spoiler: Clan Quirk Pass I announced it on the PGI Dev Group Stream today so I will announce it here as well: The next mechs to get a full quirks pass are: Mist Lynx Kit Fox Nova Warhawk The following mechs will get quirk revisions: Adder Ice Ferret Summoner Gargoyle There are also a few miscellaneous quirks that were updated or applied to some IS mechs. Unfortuantely, I did not have a chance to do a proper revision pass on any IS mechs this patch. The next patch is on April 7. http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/193100-march-17-quirk-update/page__view__findpost__p__4321163 For me the best bits would be the arrival of the Urbanmech and the next clan quirk pass. I can see that I might need to start rebuilding my clan mechs! Oh and the running hot particle fix, nothing worse than a massive frame rate drop when your getting hot and shot at! What bits are you looking forward to?
CW maps accessible from Training grounds - that was long overdue! Edit: I still hope, that some of the last IS nerfs are adjusted a Little bit, but it`s more likely that some of the actual meta mechs get their new "quirks".
From IS mechs I own : Spiders : fine Jenner : F and Oxide are fine(F could need minor boost), K needs some range or heat reduction Locusts : 1E and PB are nice, the 3M needs a reason to be taken out again. SHD : 2K is ok, the others need some love, the 2H needs specific quirks for AC5s or AC2s, and then 2D needs something better then that. Wolverines : really nice quirks, I don't like the LPL to LL change on the energy boat, but it still works nicely. Jagers : the are fine to me. TDRs : TDR 9S would need like 30% heat reduction on ERPPC, like this it's still a fun mech but not too competitive, it gets hot really fast and takes some time to cool down. 5SS and 9S are fine. Stalkers : 4N is great, 5M is ok but too hot, needs heat reduction, the 3H is ok, and the 3F needs some little love. King Crab : fine.
Only thing I'm really keen to see in April - besides Urbie and DWolf S - is the next Clamquirk pass. I mastered 3 Myst Lynx, 3 Fox, and all 4 Novas in prep of this inc quirkage... serious hedge yall. Oh, and optimization + more bug fixes will be nice, too.
Stats from CW weekend and information on CW fix game mode selection fix scheduled for April 21. Key Stats: - 8140 matches of CW were played during the event. - 4347 Invasion - 3793 Counter Attack - 6323 matches were IS vs Clans - Only 2.8% of all the matches went to auto win because of no opponent. - Clans won 3330 of those matches, which equates to a ~52.66% win rate. - IS took over 53 planets and the Clans took over ZERO. Spoiler http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/194703-community-warfare-statistics/page__pid__4332374#entry4332374 Many people including myself were very interested to get some statistics from the past weeks first ever Community Warfare focused event. First of all I was very happy with the participation and overall numbers we were seeing in CW, with around 1500-1800 players in CW matches at any given moment. Key Stats: - 8140 matches of CW were played during the event. - 4347 Invasion - 3793 Counter Attack - 6323 matches were IS vs Clans Here is where it gets real interesting. - Clans won 3330 of those matches, which equates to a ~53% win rate. Even with that win rate the IS took over 53 planets and the Clans took over ZERO. How is this possible you ask! there must have been lots of autowins ( turret drops ). No in fact: - Only 2.8% of all the matches went to auto win because of no opponent. Keep in mind that 2.8% was spread out across the entire event, it would have played zero part in any successful planet flips. If not via auto win then how? I took to twitter recently on this subject to explain how the event really exposed a flaw in the way CW determines the game mode. The system tries to switch back and forth between Invasion and Counter Attack to make things as fair as possible. However after 5 seconds if there is not an opposing team present it switches the game mode to the opposite so the existing team can achieve an auto win if nobody shows up. They then begin their 10 minute wait time and 98% of the time an opponent DOES show up. However the game mode has already been switched. This prevents the lower population faction from getting the game mode they need in order to either successfully attack or defend their planet, even though they are keeping up with the queue, preventing auto wins and perhaps even have the higher win percentage. Anyhow it's a complex subject to try and explain via the written form. Suffice it to say we have a fix being implemented now and hope to put it live with the April 21st patch. In the meantime with CW populations more evened out with the event over, it does seem safe to enjoy that mode for the time being but this fix will be absolutely necessary before we can hold an event like this again. In fact I will be considering a map reset after this fix has been implemented. When you consider this fix along with the following: Call to Arms fixes and improvements, several layers of Queue information added, faction groups, faction chat, VOIP, Counter Attack game mode, map algorithm fixes I think it would be pretty good timing for moving into phase 2 of our CW Beta.
Those +10 tons have balanced things better then ever it seems, about the win rate. The planet conquer is PGI fault and they are going to fix that. I think clan mechs quirks are not a bad thing either, if they are going to boost the weak mechs, so there might be more variety, but not to SCR, TBR, HBR (best solo CW mech for me), and DWF.
Not really its just the 95% of IS pilots that gave up on CW or never play it or barely play it all turned up so the clan pilots literally couldn't attack any planets as they were permanently defending. That's the TLDR for their post..... I'm still finding that any 8-12 man if organised essentially guarantees the win. Maybe 1 in 10 times the other side can turn things around. When Dudes and the 331st dropped together that weekend we NEVER lost a match. Nada, nein, non. Because of the way they prioritise the match finding a 12 man seems to never fight against a 12 man which is a gaping hole in their methodology. For a large group its an insane money spinner as a 12 man gets in so fast and almost always wins.
It would be an interesting comparison to see how many CW matches were played this weekend. I decided to try a pug drop on Saturday night, and there were 3 planets being contested with the largest population at 24/25, whereas last week during the same time, there were two planets at 99+ and a few others in the 50s/60s.
Yeah it dropped to two to three contested planets since the weekend if you played Marik which was a right pain as an obnoxious Lord/ex-Lords team (that were good but not as good as I expected as I managed 11-12 kills in each match and we were down one DC per match) and a couple of 12 man teams were farming the mostly solo players on our side. Hard matches in fairness which is good but their drop decks seemed deliberately configured for defensive battles on the cold world which was a bit puzzling as not sure how they could guarantee getting that. Their trash talk really didn't fit their results but maybe thats all they amount to nowadays. Horrible thing is I don't think most players realise how to rejoin a CW battle as its so non intuitive. Only reason I know is someone told me how.
Lol yeah I was so gutted the other day when I died just before you two and instantly switched to you to want your poptarting... to find your 1 LRM 5/Tag... and destroyed PPC.
ugh...juggling wet cats I'll sell off or buy back and exploit whatever has been overlooked/clubbed/buffed/quirked/nerfed... hoping/wishing/raging/bragging finally got old..what was that quote from Dune? I will bend like the reed.........and use whatever works next. Tired of trying every conflageration to get my (insert one) mech to perform like it did, or should.../lulz
