What other Online Games besides MWO do you else play?

Yeah but you have to drop in them to level them which means being active in them. In fairness I leveled it by dropping in it as my third vehicle as by then people were more likely to be in planes.

 

I only purchase the SPAA to move up a tier, I rarely play them.

Is there anything else your not sold on? It is a very unforgiving game.

 

Well actually I got my first 1km distance kill last night and started leading a bit better.

Also when I realised last night that APCBC shells actually had HE in them as well I felt a bit more hopeful....

So far German tanks do seem awful but I wonder if that's just that all the Russian tanks seem to come standard with APHE and only one early German one does? It bugs me that it doesn't give details of the relative explosive fillers of shells as most of the early German shells just seem to pass straight through or crit one location despite their comment in game that they have explosive filler. I mean how can they have an explosive filler if the stats show no fuse delay/sensitivity?

There is one major question though - what does "Normalization at 30 degrees from horizontal" mean?

It is a modifier to the chance your round will bounce off armor angled at 30 degrees. I'm not sure what the base chance is though.

If your playing Germans you really need to try not to get shot, I know it sounds stupid but they really are not front line tanks.

 

Its scary when you survive a battle in your first tank... what did I do differently? *ponders*

Haha. I know what you mean. I'm currently trying to unlock the first Tiger tank, it is horribly painful.

Turns out you just need to find a good shooting position and have good ammo.

Was in a Pz. Kpfw IV Ausf. E and looking at it... 75mm cannon...

Couldn't even call in artillery as so little xp on it.

PS: Not got over 3-4 kills or 6th position before so somewhat HyPh3R!!!!!!!!!!

 

Was astonished to find that if you get in close the Gepard absolutely shreds tanks of its tier from the side or rear as its ROF is insane.

Of course then I ruined my run by killing myself running into a concrete pillar my other tanks would have crushed...

 

Right that's the 2.0 BR German tanks done and now a completely new 2.3 set to work up:

Pz.III J, Pz.IV F1 and StuG III A.

 

Sounds like you are starting to enjoy the game @Remarius. Have you tried any of the aircraft side events during the missions?

I'm not sure if you are aware or it has been mentioned before but you get more xp toward your next tank if you play the tank that precedes it. You also get bonus xp for each full row of modifications you've unlocked per tank. So it can be worth while unlocking that last modification.

 

TBH I've been doing every tank to its max ergo why my research is ahead of the tanks I'm levelling.

Things are weird now I'm fighting lots of 3.3 BR T-34's and just getting raped in LR fights where the enemy insta kill me. 2.3 vs 3.3 is odd.

I notice they all have 1.0 tanks with them in their set so is it a way to get a lower BR by using the average of the tanks?

Edit: Is 3 tanks in a match a hard cap?

 

Battle ratting should only take the average of your 3 highest tanks. However you can take as many tanks as you have slots to fill. You can only ever play 3 tanks.

If you go in a 3.3 and two 1.0 it is quite likely your average will be 2.3. If you went in a 4.0 and two 1.0 your average should be 3.3. Battle ratting should only ever drop by 1 point no matter the disparity between tanks on your selection.

T34 are nasty and hard to take out early on. Aiming for the right of the turret should reliably pen and cause damage to the gunner making it harder for them to return fire. The turret ring is also very vulnerable even head on.

 

Wow thought it was my paranoia at first - what do they get from gaming the system like that? Is it really that much better rewards than playing at a higher tier?

That seems a fancier version of what you were saying - basically you can level a mech more easily by having the main tank with two lower BR ones so you can farm a battle.

Looking at it I wonder if they were 1.3 not 1.0 because that fits perfectly to the formula and the opponents:

Overall BR = (3.3 / 2) + (1.3 / 4) + (1.3 / 4) = 2.3

Coincidentally they were farming 2.3 BR tanks....

Wonder how it handles if you have multiple of a tank.
