It does have some advantages, at least One left torso pod, the SHC-B LT, will be ECM-capable (though this removes the weapon mounts, you could also put a 3x ballistic pod there), and that ALWAYS adds in some utility. 3 Missile pods means it could at least run a SRM18 build with some backup energy weapons added in, and with MASC and JJs, you could make a nasty little poptart skirmisher. Based on the silhouette, I'm also still guessing that its hardpoints are going to be fairly high mounted, which is ALWAYS a good thing in this game...especially for something that can jump. If anything else, the inclusion of ECM will make it a stronger mech for the team...in CW, I'm betting that you will see more varied drop decks to fit this one in for the utility. Time will tell, naturally, but the selections look better for Wave 3 than they did for Wave 2...
I didn't really over overlook ECM but lrms are not competitive and with radar dep, it's a peripheral concern.
ECM is worth more than countering LRMs though...preventing enemies from getting target info, or tracking the team can be a boon, and if anyone's running a streakboat, getting 2+ ECMs on them completely disables their ability to launch. Always a good thing,
Tbh the bottom three are ridiculously good relative to the resistance mechs... or previous packs tbh. Was theory crafting builds and there are some really nice roles/builds for those. Its hard to do much with the assault as it has two horrible flaws - large CT and low slung weapon mounts. That said ... 7 energy hard points in the right arm and 3 ballistics between the LT/LA with almost no wasted slots there to restrict builds..... potential for ridiculous firepower on the mech. Thats of course presuming you don't want the LA energy/missile versions.
Yaya. Does anyone actually run into steak boots? I can't remember the last time I was hit with a steak?
Being one of those "collectors" I bought the package in, as I presume, the 25 seconds following me learning that the package page was online,... Didn't even look at the content. I predict I will probably hate the assault, love the medium and learn to love the heavy and light
MASC and ECM on a Medium??? Hells yes, please! I'm not really a clan-fan. When I drop, it's IS 19 out of 20 times. However, ECM and MASC look VERY interesting! I'm thinking I'll at least grab the Shadowcat pack.
Oh! And a Prime Cheetah with ACH-C arms... It's a slower TDK w/ ECM and Jump Jets!!! HELL YEAH! 142kph after tweak... Not shabby, lil fella!
Plus, not only do you have the advantage over the TDK by bringing JJ and ECM, you have longer range (albeit hotter) MLas, AND A FLAMER!!! That's right... A mother... lovin'... flamer. BOOM! Beat that! I'll sacrifice some speed for that saucy nugget of joy!
I'm on the fence, but i see that every one of these has Endo-steel and FF armor... so the spare tonnage should be awesome. Plus two mechs with ECM! Arg/...
Ebon Jaguar looks like a very good setup: hotboxes appear potentially similar to the TBR for the torso, though the arms may be pretty vulnerable (Nova Syndrome). Still, I'm seeing a lot of high-mounted hardpoints, and that is always a good thing in MWO. I expect this mech to be a powerhouse, and a good option at the heavy level, just based on how they made it look here.
I do like the look but its interesting how peoples mind work because I instantly thought of the Bushwacker colour front page of the Technical Readout. http://www.sarna.net/wiki/File:Bushwacker_battle.jpg
That does look sexy as hell... but, I'm still waiting to see the Shadowcat! I want that little bugger! Not to mention the first clan light that can actually OPERATE as a damn light!
