Not entirely agreeing with that @Lan . Admitted I haven't spent the thousands of dollars others have, but for my wallet I have spent a lot. Then again, I have spent approximately the same amount on MWO and am still spending money on EVE (since 2008).

The difference with SC / MWO and EVE is that for the latter I had a game to play and just pay the subscription cost. For MWO I payed a bit upfront and continued paying once I got into the game. For SC I payed a lot upfront and still have no clue what I'll actually get in return besides a combat sim module.

SC charges a lot for what they offer (at this time). But in terms of concept many are the mechpilots that have been there already.

What happens to a ship's insurance if ypu choose to upgrade your vessel? Example: Aurora is on sale including 2y insurance at the moment. What if I choose to upgrade to 300-class ship later, which usually comes with just half a year of insurance when going for a package?

I understand that dilemma. I'd never have dreamed of paying that much until I started playing Word of Tanks. That was a product superbly designed to get $ from you and acclimatised me to the concept of spending to reduce grind or speed progress. The clever trick was the XP conversion on elited tanks as you'd not really notice how much you were spending. One day I was checking my monthly bank statements and had the horror to realise I'd spent $200 a month, plus the month before, due to their delightful x5 xp weekends and putting in a ridiculous amount of hours........

That said living out in the countryside and commuting to work I play PC games a lot more than I probably should so place a higher value on them than most. What people spend on driving, drinking, taking drugs, etc gets funneled by me directly into my playing.

If you use a cross chassis upgrade it retains the packages insurance I believe, if you melt a package and then buy another you end up with whichever insurance is on the new package. For example, a Aurora CL to 300i CCU:

    https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Cross-Chassis-Upgrades/Aurora-CL-To-300i-Upgrade

Not used a CCU before as I've generally bought the specific ships I was after but if you apply a normal upgrade, e.g. a Blue Cutlass upgrade to a Black Cutlass chassis, you retain the LTI (or 2 yrs etc)

Reading on the forums yes you retain the insurance you had when you use CCU's to change the ship.

A lot of people bought the half price LTI starter ships specifically to later upgrade them via CCU's to whichever ships they wanted.

On another topic. Anyone using mid-range joysticks (50-150 euros) that can recommend something? I'm looking trustmaster as they used to be good back in the day when animals still spoke but I haven't followed the scene at all so I have no clue,...

Thrustmaster T Flight Hotas Stick X will be my first one since ... Rebel Assault? OMG, getting old.

Seriously, google that thing and reviews including those on YT. Should be fine.

I've been doing searches for a couple of months now. And HOTAS X indeed looks promising. But as so many different opinions run around. Especially the love for the T1600. I am in doubt,...

HOTAS X ordered. Seemed the best bang for buck to get back into joystick playing. If the hype in my head continues I might go midrange once the game goes live.

Day 1 of T-flight HOTAS was a bummer. I got the throttle to work but the stick did nothing. Guessing either the drivers didn't install properly and/or I'll have to disconnect my razer tartarus when running the stick setup. Anyone have any experience?

I am officially a Star Citizen now as well. Got myself a shiny Aurora MR - so quite the smallest vessel available. It comes with Beta access and Arena Pass, though, so I am ready to go.

Anyone think that the Carrack will come with an awesome bad ass Rover? I am looking at some of the images and I'm like "Meh, I don't even need a Constellation unless I want to apply my Phoenix Pack for Space Pimp status".

It does have an explorer one from memory - how awesome it will be is rather hard to predict. ;)

Reminds me I need to read all the Jump Point issues this weekend.

    Welcome citizen! @Aylek

I got my new control system to work now, and I will need some training it seems. My last Spacesim I played with a stick was WC5. And lets just say that rustiness combined with the new flight model have made it hard for me to figure out where the **** my ship is heading to,...

But damn how have I ever played this with a mouse,...

    Wingmen, assemble! :stig:

Just for reference they have used very generous USD to Euro exchange rates so quite a lot of the pain was mitigated for most people. In contrast they used full exchange rate for USD to GBP so thats very painful.
