The way I think of it is the mech is built around the weapon. EG a FS9-A might come with some better collimating lenses and cooling systems, allowing for longer range and better cooling from its energy mounts. Since lenses are frequency specific, it works best with the frequency used by small pulse lasers. The Huginn might have a special ammo loading system and some fancy targeting electronics to squeeze out the extra range and fire rates. Etc. And I think Remarius meant "in terms of accuracy/fire rate/weight/etc" ie the "stats" of the weapon, not the statistics. Misuse of the term.
I remember seeing a post on MWOMercs at one point saying that there's a problem with PPCs in general if they are stagger fired too close to one another (ie, you left click then right click .3 seconds later), but there was no dev reply to it. Players in the thread were split between two arguments: either the second PPC was not actually hitting (even when it did) due to a hitreg issue, or it WAS hitting, and the reticle was bugging out. Naturally, some people for the first argument are adamant that they've seen damage not appear, and people for the second argument are adamant that they HAVE seen damage appear by watching the armor. So, unfortunately, we still don't know for sure...hit reg might be borked on weapons that fire too closely, or it could just be an error where the reticle doesn't always turn red.
I never pay attention to the reticule. I look at the paper doll. I also know how much most of these mechs have and can mentally calculate what damage would be required to leave a big gaping smoking hole in the center of it.
Yeah I'm not arguing its not a great weapon and it is imo because it utterly dominates the sales statistics as it can be used on any battlefield anywhere any time. But a lot of that also comes down to factors such as the owners will also sell to anyone with just a paper license and often not even that. Its also used as a specific tool to cheaply and easily help entities they're interested in. That sheer volume allows them to sell it at margins no other manufacturer could. Its place as the AC5 of MWO is acknowledged.
I was alpha firing 2x cERPPCs and not seeing red reticle or blinking armor on the target. I also think a lot of my gauss shots were bouncing too.
My God, painted a Raven's leg with 2x C-LPL and it goes light yellow armor. Next shot cored it and made the internals orange. Friggen joke.
I'd truly like to see client side hit reg tested out. Give people a taste of the real medicine. Do it on a test server, swap back once the hax arise, whatever. I'd swallow a few bitter pills to know that I'm dishing out my own brand.
