The dragon is quite the popular mech right now, for sure. I'm just tring to give him the light mech experience in a heavier chassis. That is definitely one thing the dragon can't do.
True If nothing else, if you're willing to bump up the weight on some of the lights, you can just do what I did: Take a Cicada along! 3 35 tonners and a Cicada came in as the perfect match, and it's still basically 4 lights hehe
PEOPLE!! LISTEN TO THIS!! You have 240tons for your dropdeck! Please use them all, or at least clsoe to all. You will need that firepower, if only to break gates and handle choke points. If you love lights and medium at least consider decking up on a big and slow heavy/assault as your last choice to eat up some tonnage. You can launch them first/second to break gates and what not.
I'm currently running dual timbers, one a jack of all, with lasers, LRMs, MGs ,the other a pure laser vom build. I currently take two Ice Ferrets for company as I love those nimble box 'mechs. One sporting 3ML and a streak6, the other a pure medium wub boat with 4MPL. Had great fun in them, but I will change that when the Mad Dog is available for CBills. I'd like to squeeze a Dire in there to. Shame you can't pre build drop decks..
Well I prepped mine last night and then just selected them - you mean as in just be able to log in and press a button to launch with a preselected deck you use?
I think he means he wishes you could have several premade drop decks to choose from. Say, one for attacking, another for defending, one with a few LRM boats, one pure laser vomit, etc.
Suppose I got around that by having a list of decks and side options and just equipping whichever I wanted with modules.
Semi-true. You need the most effective firepower you can get. For me, I'll be able to do more damage more consistently in a Raven than in a Victor. So I "waste" 35-65 tons from the dropdeck tonnage taking a cataphract, jager, raven, firestarter or cataphract, raven, raven, firestarter mix. Now, if I ever decide to practice using my Victors/HGNs enough to get good with them, or find an assault I like (come on, Schwerer Gustav!) I would be able to make more effective use of them, and could thus waste less tonnage. But for the moment, I find them too clunky to be fun, and have little incentive to practice.
What weight combos do you chose for the 4 Slots in your Dropdeck? 1. 55/55/60/70 2. 55/55/65/65 3. 35/35/70/100 4. 35/65/70/70 5. 35/55/70/80 ...?
My first deck was: 1/ JM6-S, double gauss (+ MLas) 2/ DRG-1N (no shit Sherlock)(clanners loved it so much!) 3/ DRG-1C, 4 ERLLas 4/ JR7-F 220 tons. It worked nicely. Except for the Jenner, but it's mostly because my FPS were so bad at the end of the game it was almost unplayable. I might trade it for a medium though (BJ-1X, HBK-4P or KTO-18) at least until I know the maps well.
TDR-5SS - 7 MPL BJ-1 - AC20, 3 ML JM6-S - Dual Gauss, 2 ML Ember - 4 MG, 4 ML I've only had to use the Ember once and damn did it mop up. I like starting with energy and finishing with energy, keeping my ammo dependent builds between.
My first couple drops looked like this: RVN-3L: 2xERLLas SHD-2H - 2xAC5+1xAC2 TDR-9SE: 4x LPLas BLR-1G: 1x Gauss 2 ERLLAs 4xMLas Haven't really used the Raven for much as they aren't great for base defense, so will probably switch it out for a Jenner. Really happy with the Battlemaster since lots of people are avoiding bringing assaults in favour of heavies it seems, so its great in a defensive role as one of the tankier mechs on the field, though its hard to hit with the gauss due to the massive framerate drops on some parts of the maps.
I was wondering whether to do 2 lught and 2 assault, 2 medium and 2 heavy, or 1 of each. Whether to go all energy boats or mix n match (and whether to go with high ammo builds like my 4500 LRM boat) Whether to go all hero or just try and get the best mechs. Whether or not to level stuff in CW or to go only with levelled mechs. I will need to do more research on the LP rewards and what you get for them to decide.
I'd disagree...like SAI, I get more out of my Raven, Ember, Jenner, and Cicada more than I ever do out of my heavier mechs, and I take the collection so I have two long range and two close range mechs. I'd be far less useful taking the heaviest mechs into a fight instead of the strongest ones in my arsenal.
I have been using Firebrand, Ilya Muromets, Raven 3L, and Cataphract 3D for exactly 240 tons. I am considering making a change to Firebrand, Cicada 3M, Raven 3L, and King Crab 000L but I don't own or have mastered Cicadas yet, lol, Just want another lighter/faster mech with ECM and I like the looks of the 3xERLL Cicada 3M build as I am sure it is similar to the Raven 3L which I love. I also have not mastered crabs yet due to the other 2 being available via MC only for right now.
I'm at 235 with: JR7-K w/ 4xMPL and 300 XL CN9-A Zombie Build with STD 270 and 5T ammo Ilya Muromets with 2xAC10, 8T ammo, and 3xML with 300 XL AWS-8T with 2xALRM15, 4xML, TAG, and 25T of ammo with XL 255
