The Fraps is for me to review after. If I think it just is genuinely good play or maybe I missed a spotter I can usually find it from that. I mainly just like to review my own performance it has to be said so I can wallow in how bad my decision making or aim was. Well for new builds too to evaluate them.
So, one of my community friends got into the game early this year. Bought in on the clan packs, highest level, even considering my warnings about not being able to play those in CW as we are a IS unit primarily (we may merc out someday but you know what FRR thinks of that). Anyways, he has been building up some IS mechs but not too many. And selling gear to afford it. Bad idea. CW drops as a bomb! Panic mode. He wants to play, he has to play! Can't get 4 IS mechs fully geared, needs about a million C-Bills for a engine, desperation hits and he buys a C-Bill package for MC, installs and is ready for drop. All's well. We win our first, exstatic and he comes out with about 800k C-Bills thirty minutes after he blew a 1000 MC on C-Bills. The coms erupt into laughter. Doh!
Yeah but its understandable as I certainly never anticipated how much we'd earn. TBH 10/10 for keeness and commitment.
It is understandable but still just a wee bit funny as he was going back and forth scavenging, agonizing over selling lemon mechs or not (keep telling him not to sell, just play). If I could've I'd have sent him a engine, free.
Time to revive this thread. I've been playing my Stormcrow like this for MONTHS, and didn't notice this. See how long it takes you. Thankfully I only did it once...
Clan SRM ammo in the RT ... didn't take long as was the obvious mistake. TBH the warning triangle is good on pointing out if you have ammo with no weapon so I religiously check it after I tweak a build.
Yeah, I'm usually better at checking it...but alas I figured it was just the ghost heat warning. At least it was only a half ton though...after I'd changed to that build, I'd never run out of ammo anyways...
I was running around with three tones of streak ammo in my SRM summoner for a LONG time..... Now I don't run out of ammo as often. Go me!
Sigh...I had another one. Since I'm leveling my Gargoyles, I'm trying to keep them as moduled up as I can, but I couldn't find my ERML range module anywhere...so I finally went through every mech one-by-one (found it eventually on my Hellbringer ERML spammer), but I noticed something stupid along the way. I had built one HBR as a 4x ERLL build, in case it ever went into CW, and needed to snipe. I looked at the modules though, and somehow...I put an ERSL range module that I'd forgotten I owned on it, instead of the ERLL module. I had to have had that damn module on it for at least 20-30 matches too...
Oh I just remember a module error... I bought a clan SRM 6 cooldown module for my Hellbringer and levelled it up with the other 2 variants over a week. Went to take them all off once they were mastered.... *facepalm* I'm bought and been using a streak srm 6 version. In other related module bloopers - I've run the wrong modules (e.g. LPL large moduels instead of LL ones) a few times but each was only for a couple of battles when getting daily doubles.
It seems as if PGI needs to have a system like the ammo warning for the modules. If you have the wrong ones equipped, or none at all.
They really need to have an asset management system. We shouldn't have to search through mechs one by one to find a module that was misplaced.
Asset management system and a better set of icons. Color and bigger text would help wonders. As it is, it's like scrolling through a bunch of black-and-white (not grayscale) stock images that all look incredibly similar to find the size 6 font for the weapon you want.
I started playing the game in the fall of 2013, right before the Phoenix mechs arrived. I got a co-worker and a couple friends interested in the game. One night we got together and had a lan party. My co-worker decided to get the full Phoenix pack. He played MWO that one night.
I had a weird wrong ammo scenario. I had ammo for all my equipped weapons, but the ratio was off. I wanted 10 tons of LRM and 3 tons of LB20. I dropped with 14 LB20 rounds and 1980 LRMs.
I was playing with Falco, Fherot, and a few Comstar guys last night. I ran around in my FS9-A for a few matches, and wasn't doing well after the first match, so I went back to my Stormcrow. Only then did I realize that I had never popped any of the modules onto the Firestarter, so I had no seismic (which I'd been checking for constantly) and no radar derp. Suddenly, things begin to make sense...
