Biggest derp moment?

Always surprises me when someone mentions that error on comms as I'm so paranoid about picking the wrong ammo that I double check and read the triangles as they include ammo with no weapon and weapons with no ammo. On the other hand life would be soooo much simpler if they just included a "only ammo with weapons on mech" selection on the ammo page.

 

Don't know what was better...that Falc did that, or that I got to be on TS with him when he announced it ;p

 

Daring to reply to threads on the main MWO forums thinking people are posting honestly rather than trolling.

Thats fairly derpish however you look at it as I keep trying.

In fairness the new player/help section is good and most players who help there are brilliant, the rest.....

 

I used to surf the general forums. I did this for two reasons, one good, one bad. The good: trying to find important info, and even answer questions for noobs who weren't posting on the help forum.

The bad, annoying [REDACTED] I was so happy when he/she finally stopped playing...easily one of the most toxic players this game ever had. I made it my mission to point out the flaws in every forum bitchfest they engaged in...

 

Thankfully I don't know them but I just dip in there every now and again as there are an awful lot of players who seem to post there in a rage, post opinion pieces with no basis in reality which they never back up with facts (Bishop Steiner yes thats you), or just to troll people with toxic/zero content/value posts (Vassago Rain yes thats you).

Yes I am flirting with drama queendom in anticipation of a return.

 

[REDACTED] was an easy player to sum up: gung-ho, charged in stupidly every match, then blamed the team for letting them die. Had several games where we won 12-1 (Jun as the only death) with him/her bitching the whole time. It was a guarantee that there would be a rant on the forums about "Nerf (weapon) NOW!" within about five minutes Think they got banned from the forums...3 times? Kept making new alts to post again heh

 

Hmmm... may have to visit that newbie forum part. Would get to divert more players to come here maybe.

 

Big derp this evening:

First drop in AC/40 for a while, I pull out a massive game (800+ damage, 5 kills). It's almost the end, it's 2 vs 2, a Spider and me, against a spider and a Centurion.
I charge the Centurion, destroy one leg. That's the moment fate decided to make me run out of ammo (I have 8 tons). It won't stop me from fighting, my target is legged and won't be able to evade the strike: I tell my friendly to stay away from it and call an arty.
Well... I just forgot this pilot was not with me on TS, and my strike eventually landed right on their face
So not only I TKed the last mech of our team able to deal damage, but when I said sorry on the chat I wrote it in French , so they probably didn't understand me...

 

I just had a derpy moment too. In a Nova at 17% health, I let another mech run around the enemy to distract him while I shoot him in the back. Well, I was directly behind the enemy...that was looking directly at my teammate...

Long story short, I got the KB that destroyed the wall between me and my teammate, thus causing my teammate to KB me.

 

Anyone else completely forget what mech theyre in while doing 2x XP daily wins?

I've cackled and plodded off the edge of a canyon in network and slid down on my ass nearly legging myself forgetting I switched out of JJ mech...

Or spotting an enemy at 600m, prime target for my massive gauss rifle, flip off safety and squeeze that trigger with a smirk "Eat this, dirtbag."... To fart 270m ranged SRM's in their general direction...

 

Haha I've been the TKer a few times in that situation. I try to stay aware of it when I'm in bad shape and go off a-flankin'

 

Yeah I also do this when someone in group wants to level a mech so I need to change weight classes.....

Couple of nights ago I commented in mild frustration how everything was out of range for me.

Thats when some clever bright spark pointed out I was in a quad ERLL Dragon-1C......

4 minutes of not firing and manouevering to get a target within my SRM volley range...

Ahem...

 

You gotta look at the bright side Rem. In the end, you WERE in range!

I would like to turn the tables for a change. This is not my biggest derp, but my biggest derp induction,...

You all know those matches where the rest of the team in their uberstrategic mindset starts a full and rapid push around the enemy with the intention of catching them off guard. Typically for such a drop, this happened on Crimson Straigth with me being in the assualt lance that started as far as possible from the D4 ridge. To keep a long battle report short enough to remain somewhat readable lets just say that the lemming trickle in D4 made a nice countdown towards my own DWF's demise plain and clear.

Now luckily for me my fellow stragglers decided to die with honour and moved along the railroad towards the already victorious other team. I decided to make my stand away from LRMs and thus towards the covered tunnel entrance.

It is here that the enemies lights found me. A helpless whale ripe for the slaughter, an easy kill,...

The first to the scene was a brand new Pirate's Bane. Moving surprisingly aggressively towards me,... a dual gauss made him less "new" (friggin lucky headshot ). The Raven and Adder came just after,... again lucky me got pitted against a dual PPC Adder. The poor lad probably saw the PB blow up instantly, alpha'd/overheated promptly and lost his legs even faster. Meanwhile, the Raven was still circling me with in a rage of bloodlust whilst the entire enemy team was starting to move in my direction.

And no, I didn't kill the Raven. By the time I could get a finishing shot in I was being pummeled by the faster movers of the other team. But darn I did stop those 3 overeager lights hungry for that kill from getting it.

("geluk bij een ongeluk" we say in Flemish) Luck in unlucky times,...

 

I had the game itself derp with an error I've never seen before. Just for shits and giggles, I loaded up my Direstar (9 PPC DWF) to dick around for a match.

Load into the game, and there's only 2 PPCs on it. WTF? Sure enough, I try firing, and only two are there, and I'm confused since I KNOW it has all the weapons there and saved, since I had just taken it into the testing grounds a second before. End up dying, pretty low damage, go into my mechlab...and sure enough, all 9 PPCs are equipped. It just decided not to load seven of them into the match Never had that happen before...

My recent derp moment:
Paused to play for some days due to health issues. Started a match in the HBR-B which I equipped some days ago, so I didn't doublecheck. Wondered why I got leggeed and stripped so quick... died pretty soon. Went back to the lab... and there I noticed... 2 LBX10 and 3 ERM do fit, but only if you strip almost most of the armor.... stripped the LBX's added armor and switched to UAC5's. (Works hella good btw.)

It's a very derpy moment for me, because this tends to happen from time to time....

 

Hey at least it wasn't me.

 

I get a version of that maybe as I have over 200 mechs... often I leave a match or enter the game and it invalids masses of my builds. I have to go into the mechlab loadout screen for it to recognise it (and all the others) properly.
