SHDs can probably do something with it ^^ Or you can make some heavies feel like they're mediums

My experience boiled down as follows:
    -Lose horribly
-Win comfortably, but with no kills

I had a total of two qualifying matches out of twenty, despite playing mechs I otherwise have the win/kill ratios with and (mostly) playing smart. Of those two qualifying matches, one was backstabbing a disconnected light from the other team. I used targeting computers and machine guns and everything, man. No dice. No mechbay and free mech makes me grumpy, but it was definitely a 'for science' challenge with the goal of studying player behavior given a different score structure...and they got their data, for sure. But with an experience like mine, I wasn't staying up for the final stretch to try and secure 18 qualifying matches when I could be doing something important. Like sleeping.

I've held on to my Victor (even though I want to sell it towards getting a TBR), just in case I decide to master VTRs later...one less to buy!

The problem with these competitions is always the same: people don't play the way they would otherwise. To echo my past comment about this being the perfect 3L Super Chicken competition, I think the rules on this one actually made me a better player overall. I was more careful and precise with my mech, trying to be more unpredictable in how and when I engaged the enemy, and it really paid dividends. It didn't hurt that a lot of people were trying to get their one kill, and were blundering into bad situations as a result. If people could just understand that changing their tactics for one weekend only wasn't going to help them, things would turn out better ;)

I'm very happy everyone else had a good time with the challenge, it would appear I was in the minority. Honestly, I'm a bit jealous. I had bad experiences early on and didn't feel like touching it again until today.
And had 4 great games in a row >.>
    Ah, well.

FX was running around testing a SHD with the 350XL yesterday and slaughtering stuff getting 4 kills in the match I met him. In the meantime I got legged by my own side in a Locust-PB while 1v1ing a SHK on the other side. At least I got the kill....

Was actually legged in a match with Dog Funtom in a MLX on the same day by my own side...

Bearing in mind how small both mechs are its hard to understand how incompetent the aim of both pilots was.

If I was a more paranoid person I'd start suspecting it was deliberate. ;)

Please god I don't want those tactics adopted as they were generally awful. Timidity and cowardice would sum it up.

I would wait on selling hte Victor. God (Paul) knows what we can expect once the quirks for this machine comes out.

I assumed this was so people could pick up where they left off? Maybe they will add another tier to the challenege, first being the 3 days premium, second the victor and third ?????. That way it is useful for everyone.

I eventually became more careful, but that was only out of frustration. I love to be in the thick of the fight. I like to laser bits of other peoples mechs, have bits chopped off me and then, hopefully, be the last one standing surrounded by smoking wrecks. Unfortunately even if I manage to kill a host of enemies I normally die, a fun heroic death helping my team. Which means no points for me! Any challenge that makes you alter your play style is not a good challenge imo.

Agree. I don't think ppl will have the opportunity to win a second one, since the challenge is already accounted for.

But maybe a Mechbay for 20 matchpoints for those who already ahve it would be a nice compensation. Although most would reject it... not really worth it.

Added the tweet to my previous post, but here it is for those who don't want to go back to it.

Should be able to carry on from where we were when it ended.

However doesn't look like there is anything there for those that already completed it. But he seems to be of the opinion that there will be more than enough to keep everyone else interested.

Looking forward to Saturday! I've a good few hours to myself to hopefully finish the Victor challenge and anything else they might throw at us :D

Extending or reloading the event again is good. They can allow for things like 50k cbills extra for every qualifying match above the 20 needed, up to 50 matches, or something like that. That way the ones who failes to get the Tier 2 can work on it, and us who have completed can get some cbills.

I have to say though, this event takes more time than the usual ones.
The usual 30/50 win event is much easier, since winning is easily much more than 50% as long as you actually go for it rather than goofing/leveling/testing/etc. This one event you have to go against your own team also. You actually see people blocking you so they can get the last hit.

I would have hoped they would do something like that @enileph, but he goes onto say if you have done it there is nothing else for you with regards to the Victor challenge. See my post above yours :). Seems like a wasted opportunity, but I don't know how they handle the data that drives the challenges. Although another weekend of trying really hard to survive doesn't sound like that much fun to me! lol.

His last two comments were: "Doesn't matter - found we cannot easily have players pick up where they left off. Not worth running again, sorry to those that wanted. All new stuff this weekend."

Yep, this seems to be the latest news about the Victor challenge.

On the one hand opening it again for those who didn't manage to hit the score necessary would have been very generous, but on the other hand this would have created a pretty dangerous precedent. "Why bother doing the challenge when it' ll be opened again anyway?" And even I myself immediately asked if I couldn't get the chance to earn the warhorn from last week...

I think it's better this way. One either manages to score the points needed in the time frame presented or he/she doesn't. Easy as that.

    I agree with this.
I am actually HAPPY he would say it like what it is. This is a great thing. We all make mistakes. Now we at least know we would have an annoying event like this. Yay.
That said, I feel bad for those who cannot get the freebie on at least one account. (I am fine, cause I have only one functional account)

True that. Maybe better off not re-opening a event.
But I feel dirty the stuff I have to do to stop my teammates from stealing my kills.

I'm intrigued what will be this weekend as I presumed we could relax... ;)

The fact they extend a challenge leaves speechless.
I wished they understood their ruleset was absolutely toxic, but no, they give it another go to waste another weekend... GG.

Calm down. The final verdict seems to be they won't do it.

Next step: a friendly event, not a "challenge", where all the community wins together by playing together.

I don't know about that. There is a fine, but firm line between playing carefully with some aggression, and playing cowardly. My 3L was the damage and kill leader on about 80% of the games I played, with quite a few of those games over 600-700 damage. I used a lot of the lessons I learned playing my Raven, and then finally loaded back into my DWF, and found that I was doing very well too, simply by using the same general tactics, and being more careful so that I didn't get myself caught by enemy mechs in a bad spot.

Of course, the main point of my post was that most people really would not have had as much trouble if such a large part of the population hadn't crossed that line into cowardice mode. When you go from Predator to Prey, you've lost the battle before it even began...
