One thing I like about this tournament is it has given easily mine-able data. My tournament results so far: 43-26 W/L 61-45 K/D (living is not my strong suite as I LOVE to push the action in a match) Keeping in mind I used this time almost 100% to level mechs with my rewarded premium time, here are some mech results. Highlights: BJ-1X (2xLPLas, 2xMLas, 2xSLas, XL280) - 9-3, 13/6 K/D Great showing for this mech. I sold my BJ-3 to reacquire this mech and can't be happier with how it performs with those crazy high-mounted LPLas. CDA-2(Beast) (5xMPLas, XL300) - 5-5 14/7 K/D Slightly weak tourney showing. This mech has about a 4-1 K/D for me since the quirkening. COM-1D (2xMPLas, 2xSSRM2s, XL230) 14-9, 15/14 K/D Carry harder, little one! This mech represented quite well once I got into the groove with it and actually ended on a 6 game win streak with it. Can definitely deliver some DPS into the back and can make the enemy make terrible life choices. Lowlight: SDR-5D (1xLLas, 2xMLas, XL255) 4-3, 2/6 K/D. This mech is easily my strongest mech with a robust winning percentage and a K/D above 3 (comparable to my chainsaw Jager). It was just not meant to be with the tourney, though. Yikes! I love these new quirks out there, especially for the mechs focused on pulse lasers. Those were definitely doing great things for me this tourney.
Yeah I've noticed that certain mechs I now prioritise for putting damage on and as a primary medium and light pilot its no longer the assaults. Who would have thought the Wolverine (6K) and Dragons would be my take down priorities..... Firestarters I sort of guess. Centurions seem to cause me hell as there are so many heavy hitters now with dual LB10X. Need to study those more.... Will check my stats and post.
Yep, I think high tiers assaults and heavy now are really sub-par, they can be out DPSed and out speeded by about anything quirked.
Quirked and modded that is. I run the BJ-1X as a pure ML boat. Quirks + Range Mod + Recycle Mod = 8 very dangerous rays of green light 18 Wins in 34 Matches 49 Kills and 20 Deaths 13 Points in 34 Matches Oh and 194 assists Am too lazy to stat the mechs I used less (switched mechs when the BJ had been shot to pieces). Also due to the lower and less representative number of drops on each. But I think the above shows the choice for the 1X wasn't all that shabby.
Ok, first thing this includes my doubling attempts Sunday night. With 1 exception (DRG-1N) the other mechs all needed XP (MLX had no xp on before comp and PB mechs were doubled). I levelled each mech till I hit a target - all basics on the MLX, daily double on the PB's - except for the DRG-1N that I deployed once the other targets were hit. MLX-PRIME (quad ERML+2 DHS, Modules: Radar, ML Range/Cooldown, -5% heat & +20% LT/RT armour) 6 matches with 5 wins, 7 Kills, 1 death (on the loss), 4 qualified. Actually worked well. Balanced firepower and can use repeatedly. The first 5 matches got me 15k xp. MLX-B (started as 2 SRM 4 2 ML then changed after a few matches to a single ER PPC & ECM) MLX-C (single ER PPC & ECM, Modules: Radar, ML Range/Cooldown, -5% heat & +20% LT/RT armour) B - 17 matches with 10 wins, 11 kills, 8 deaths (6 of which were on losses), 5 qualified. C - 15 matches with 6 wins, 16 kills, 9 deaths (9 of which were on losses), 4 qualified. Only word to use is .. grim. Had one good and one brilliant match which accounted for 7 kills. A fun mech until they take your arm and its an incredible pop tarter if you have shock absorption then its glorified ECM. A critical weakness is that it can only do 2 shots before having to cool down due to the 7 engine / 3 external setup, and it cools down slowly if you're at max heat. LCT-PB (4 ML, AMS, Modules: Radar, Shock Absorption, ML Range/Cooldown, AMS Overload) 2 matches with 2 wins, 4 Kills, 0 deaths, 1 qualified The damning comment here relative to the MLX's is that all 4 kills were in 1 match and the second match I legged 2 people for others to kill... and avoided getting kills as I'd finished my 20 qualifying matches so just wanted a double. Three critical advantages over the ML - 170 KPH, much better quirks and 2 extra module slots. Heres the quirk list.... - Acceleration Rate +25% - Deceleration Rate +50% - Armor Strength (LA) +50% - Armor Strength (RA) +50% - Additional Structure (LL) +8 - Additional Structure (RL) +8 - Ballistic Range +10% - Energy Range +10% - Energy Cooldown +10% - Machine Gun Range +10% - Small Laser Range +10% - Small Laser Cooldown +10% Now bear in mind this is the alleged ugly duckling of the Locusts. Only advantage the MLX has is JJ and clan range weapons. SHD-GD (2 LL, 2 ML 2 SRM4, Modules: Radar, Shock Absorption, LL Range, SRM4 Cooldown) 5 matches with 2 wins, 10 kills, 3 deaths (all on losses), 2 qualified Solid mech. Only 40% were wins and still averaged 2 kills per match. DRG-1N (1 ERLL and 2 AC5, Modules: Radar, Improved Gyro's, ERLL Range, AC5 Range/Cooldown) 9 matches with 8 wins, 26 kills, 3 deaths (1 on a loss), 6 qualified What can I say its my go to mech. I can literally face down a DWF Dakka build, ride out the shake and walk away victorious at least two thirds of the time. It costs me my CT but at times its worthwhile. If you can engage outside SRM/MPL range it rips Timberwolves apart. Yes, I am somewhat in love with this mech and utterly biased.
Coincidentally don't go out and try the face to face DWF fight unless you're really confident in your AC5 use, aren't more than lightly damaged and are willing to literally face down 5-6 UAC 5's hammering into you. On the good side, its an adrenaline rush and humiliating for the big doggie when they die painfully secure in the confidence of their cheese build. Bye bitch!
Here's mine for the week: Raven-3L 35 games total 20 points achieved 15 no point games (12 losses, 3 wins without a point) KDR: 62 kills to 12 deaths (5.17) WLR: 2.92 Assists: 217 Probably the best I've ever done in one of these tournies. Edit: forgot to add, all PUG

I tried the 3L in PUG drops, it was pretty amazing. In group drops, not so much. Maybe because of bad teams, but me and Viper were always te last 2 left against at least 6 enemies (one time in alpine peaks, which was fun except for the fact that they had 4 DWFs vs our team with 5 lights. Finally a very good 2xerppc+2xgauss shot killed us.) and thus couldn't really do much. Probably would go better if we had another birdie. In the end I've just multitasked, leveled my stormcrows/CN9-AH/warhawks while getting points. played around 10 hours total inc. downtime searching and stuff.

My "Leg 'em and leave 'em" playstyle had to change a bit, since I needed kills, but it's part of why I have a negative K/D and a positive W/L. Legging people and letting the LRM spammers finish them off is very demoralizing. It also splits the enemy team, which is always nice.

Hmmm... Well, it is not hard, but you feel more like going against your own team than the enemy. This really brings out the evil of all players. You get wonderful things like: 1) kill stealers 2) super turtle that won't leave the base area 3) kill once and run away types 4) people using team to meat shield so they can be safe. I am actually using high tier mech rather than relying on quirks. Going for mostly mechs with linked-LRM to ensure less kill stolen, and ERLL cause I am tired of just hanging back. Winning is not the problem, staying alive withoutout getting kill steal is the thing. PS: How you post stats without those stupid image of cross and ticks.

Yes to all of these things. Although, I will freely admit to doing #3 a lot over the tourney. When I get a kill in my COM-1D it is a thing of gold and that mech is so fragile I would definitely back off and just provide some flanking harrassment and long-range MPLas support. I would kick it in if the battle needed it, but if the battle was definitely in our favor I became very risk averse! One match on HPG I was running my CDA-2B with an open CT. We were up 9-6 and they had an Atlas, a legged TBolt, and a Nova hiding under the center. We won that game on time since NOBODY was going to lead the charge in there. Outside the tourney I would have been all in, but I needs me those points. As for the stats, I just copied mine into Excel and did some very basic sorting and processing to give my data. Ain't nobody got time to read through all these data dumps some people are giving us. P.S. - I *really* wish there was some way to easily process data like this more often. Like, some way to reset stats ourselves. I find data trends and averages to be much more valuable for rating a build than screen shots of epic matches.
Same...that's why I used the 3L I'm gonna play it as a sniper regardless, so it's the perfect choice for a competition. Plus, it's just a brutal mech anyway
