Lol this weekend is weird. I find myself in a match with LT and as usual the curse of mechspecs strikes.. I see an awesome with 2 lights on him so rush in to help. Pull both lights and it turns out 2 heavies off him and he escapes..... I get my leg volleyed from 800m with dual gauss while jinking and turning like nothing...... die about 4 secs later. At least the Awesome pilot thanked me for the save so I just bowed out gracefully. Want to get straight into the fight so think ... mmh I've not doubled my Pirates Banes today... Ok..... Weird I kill a Spider, Firestarter, Timberwolf and Centurion...
I switched up to my Super Chicken and I am easily stealing kills... Not acting like a team player at all; I'm hunting my own targets on my own and not protecting nobody. If they, my team, manages to win then great. The points are chalking up now. Was this supposed to improve team play?
Actually we just had an insane game when we were 3 down, then pulled it back to win all playing together. But yes the solo queue is odd atm...
I'm driving a spider 5D with 3x MPL and 1x LPL 2x ML solo and so far not much problems Just that it feels like not having ECM, might as well drop it on short range builds if it was only for me and wouldn't need the win, to add more DHS and JJs, but it's useful to keep the team alive. I can say, the BAP buff is overdone, 75% of the match I don't have ECM if I'm not using ERLLAS. I'm used to stupid loss in solo drops as I mostly do that, so I don't notice anymore the good thing is you just need 1 kill, so I use ecm to try to cover the team, and in solo drops it's really a winning factor, then with the accurate pulse lasers I try to get the kill, usually comes along with victory. I use the spider because I prefer JJs in solo drops. one thing to never do is let others kills if you have 1 already, they might chicken out, get any kill possible. Now it there's a mech I hate, it's the Firestarter A with 8 SLP, primary targets for me...if they don't burn me in 2 alphas -_-
Oh I firmly believe grouping is easy mode. Chances are you will win more games than not, especially if your group of guys are half good. Then it is a grind and nothing more. Solo queue? Now THAT is a challenge.
Nah, playing in groups means you are fighting other groups. And groups Players are mostly better Pilots than solo pugs, simply because of organized communication+tactics. So it`s still challenging in group queue.
However you feel you need to sell it to yourself. You go boy! Step in to the solo queue for a few hours and tell me which one is the harder challenge.
Done, all solo queue, all spider 5D, well, I accidentally dropped one in the 5K but didn't qualify. Most successful build was 1LPL 2MLAS. 45 matches, 25 wins, 20 points.
I've still got 5 to go. I want to get one more and call it quits for the day. I really am developing a hate for what "challenge weekends" do to the playstyle in the game. I like being a team player not being forced into a solo hunters role just to make it happen.
I would say group queue is easier and more forgiving in certain ways but in other ways more difficult. You're fighting the enemies skill level with more or less skilled teammates that in general know what they are supposed to be doing, they are more likely to help you or at least carry their own bit. In solo queue, you are fighting the enemies skill level AND compensating for the lack of skill (including bad builds) or even will to co-operate in your teammates. So in that aspect, yes, the solo queue is more difficult. Edit: Also done, 46 games, 27 win, 20 qualifiying.
This is where I got angry and just decided to be mean and take more than my share. This Spider pilot on my side is actually a pretty competent pilot. He and I worked quite well together to dispatch the last 3 enemies (stalker, Centurion and a Kitfox I think... some sort of clan-can).
I don't even have many mechs to use the xl350 with, the best deal is the SHD 2K with 2mlas and 3 srm6+a, but on the rest I have lower engine caps or it's too big to fit firepower
Ok, just started playing and today i only play solo. First game: My Team had 1 afk and one with 1digit damage score, so practically it was 9 v 11. Still had our ROFL Stomp. I'd say, solo is less organized, more chaotic, a lot of LRMs but also a lot of bad builds plus even worse pilots. If you can carry the game and give good advice, then winning chance is not really dramatically worse than group queue. It's another game experience, where you try to play like a wild alpha animal. Ofc if half of your team is playing like noobs and second half you have to deal against superior numbers plus Lurmageddon, it feels like hell. No Question.
Awesome! You had one good game but it is all about staying power young Grasshopper... Do 20 or 30 of those games and then post screenshots of your wins and losses counter and we will see what the real is.
Actually i am playing 70% solo and 30% Groups in my MWO Career.. So i know what i am talking bout. I don't have the feeling that this WE Challenge is pushing the people into using over-excessively much LRMs like the last WE Challenge (where you actually aimed for high Assists Scores). This time you have to survive and Missile Boats are pretty fragile if got caught. And in fact i am seeing a lot more Diversity in the players builds, what i actually enjoy.
Fair enough. You see it your way and I will see it mine. Neither of us are right or wrong I suppose. I do see more diversity in builds but I also see a LOT of hesitation in the pug groups and then I see pure kill stealing (of which I've already shown images of me doing it myself just to compete). As for Lurmageddon? Last night was pure lurmageddon.Today? Almost no Lurmageddon. Wanna know why? (and I tested this theory) Because Lurm boats often never get the kills; a direct fire team mate will wait for you to soften up the enemy and then come and steal the kill. I've done it SEVERAL times in the last few hours in my Super Chicken. Missile Boaters do half the work for me and then I finish them off. People have learned this and stopped boating or at least reduced it.
True. It was probably something like evolutionary thinking, people saw what worked and gave kills as opposed to LRM'ing. I only ran energy myself and only now switched up today with other things to help the ones not done with the tournament yet.
I joined a mix bag group (thanks Falconium) for 2 games? Instant 2 wins and a kill each game for me. Why? Because the group was full of good players and because we would soften up the enemy for those who hadn't gotten a kill yet that match. Everyone just got an easy two points. This is why I'm saying Groups? Easy peasy compared to Solo Queue.
I agree with this. That's because you have to survive to get your point. PGI shouldn't have put this into the requirements. Well, then maybe it would have been too easy.
I agree LRM boats tend to die, I've seen few too, and killed some too. On solo drops the problems are not the wins, but how you loose If you don't mind some horrible stomp or camping games where your short range build becomes totally useless then it's not too bad, if you want fast paced games it's not the place to look into.
