Yeah, wow, kills seem to be treated like a disease this weekend. Like Durandal, I play the game to win; I refuse to hold off on securing a kill just because I want to boost my score on the leaderboards . . . but apparently my friendlies don't really think that way? All these are drops from last night. I didn't really mind, as I always got enough points with the extra assists, as well as the damage; but still, it shouldn't be this easy to get 6+ kills each round!!!
I will drop down for sure. The lenght of these tournaments is wrong, especially with this formula that denaturates gameplay. Getting 12 assists each game gets lame and I've caused enough loss in the process of gathering 10x 12 assists games, not killing things I should have. I just wanted to get them if I could do that quickly, turned out it was quite easy. Took 52 matches that is reasonable, qualified for the cbills in 41 of them. Also it's not possible with big mechs with frontload damage, you will miss 1-2 assist (2 assists = 40 points = 600 damage !) and you have to kills stuffs with those or you are not winning, and with this formula you either do it with LRMs, which I refuse to do, or lights, but you play the endphase the opposite you should, where you should shine, you need to rely on others to kill things. Funniest thing is Philantrophist achievent was the last one I got, like 2 weeks ago, even after ace of spades, now I got 11 in 2 days(last game I crashed, still managed to get 12 assists after coming back, but too few damage to improve my score, clear sign that I have to stop!). Good job @Falconium535!
I like the display of the friendly fire. And I'm glad I'm under 5 most of the games. Well, except the one when I shot my 2 large pulse lasers in the back on a friendly Atlas... team-kill of the day I'm also glad my games this afternoon were pretty normal, but that's probably because I mostly played with a large group. Solo queue must be full of "I don't want to kill" teammates.
Ha, if I was out of contention before, I'm definitely doomed now. Went to bed and dropped down more than 200 spots I always hate these competitions...
I reached 21st in FRR, just to get a feel on how much effort it would really take to go the distance and press up into the top ten spots. The image below is my top ten games to reach that far (47 played in total). The Cicada started out with 2 LLAS and 2 MLAS, then shifted it into 3 ERLLAS. Both worked well. The Jester, 2 LLAS and 4 MLAS. Ember, classic 4 MLAS and 4 MG. Chasing those 12 assist games is gonna cost more then I want for too little gain, getting above 5th place means 12 assists and 600+ games. And ten of them.
Can't believe it. I made more Kills than anyone else and still got crappy 73 match scores, while guys with some more assists but far less kills have more.. grrr something is really wrong here. Ow btw. nice to meet UMAD 1e0n and TheB33f, that crazy guy, in this Tourny.
Yeah, kills are not rewarded this time. Any game I scored high in kills rarely meant scoring well in the formula as kills and damage were waaaay less then kill assists. This could in all fairness be the weekend we see a few Death Star achievements.
- @russ_bullock At least... upcoming formulas will be close to the new reward system according to Russ.
this impresses me. one of the few times he's admitted he's wrong. I wish more people did this, even me.
As usual, I gave up on day one I was having incredible games with my FS9-A (500+ damage, 3+ kills), and still not getting 130 points. I'm up to 800k cbills coming to me at the end, and a whole lot of games that went well, but because I didn't let a teammate finish an enemy, I lost out
Join us in the group queue mate its EASY to farm the competition there (we have 3 peeps in 1-2 slots from different units atm).
Yeah, that was actually exactly what happened. I dropped a arty from behind the enemy team on Caustic only to have a friendly squirrel (medium) dodge in and get taken apart.
Bonus C-Bills for mechs I'm trying to master anyway: yay! Not enough playtime this weekend: boo! I'm also not shooting for the leaderboard. You'd have to be an LRM boat netting like 600+ damage per 12-assist game where you don't kill to stand much chance on ANY faction. I'll still try to get solid scores to keep my faction ahead (and any C-Bills are good C-Bills), but at least they fessed up to the scoring flub.
Not necessarily. Actually, I'm not sure LRM would be such a good idea since you don't have much control of when you're hitting and on what component, it's so easy to kill someone "by mistake". This weekend I played with a guy currently 2nd of his house, he was piloting a Firestarter with SPLas (and it's probably a good choice, with mobility, high DPS and precise damage, even if it's close range). But, well, we all agree the formula is retarded. Personally I didn't care, I was happy to secure the kills for the victory and my tourney-addicts teammates, and I'll get 3 or 4 millions at the end anyway.
Lights are still 4-7% even with this formula, people must really hate them I'd say LRM boat is the best in a drop where you get 3 light spotters, while lights are best for solo drops but also very good overall and much less boring, I was really surprised to see so few ingame.
