The following info jumped out: 130pts nets you an extra 100k x 100 max. Solo and group count. Faction appropriate mechs.
Is that a typo, or are Assists worth more than Kills now? You can get an easy 140 points by grazing 7 enemies with ERLLas.
So every player competing on this ladder will refuse to kill. Maybe it's the moment to grab that death star achievement. (I really don't understand why they don't reward kills and assists with the same amount of points, it would create way less behaviour distortion... last challenge was painful)
The last individual tournament was the Chassis Challenge which used Kills x 20 + Assists x 10 + Dmg/15 + Win x 20 I didn't really pay attention to the Lance challenge, so I didn't notice the change there. For Tonnes of Fun they used Assists x 20, but that was just for people to set a baseline qualifying score, not a ranked score like here.
Um . . . When Kills were worth more, people complained about how it encouraged kill-stealing. Now that they've made Assists worth more, people are complaining about how it discourages actually securing that kill for the team. This community isn't very hard to please is it? Don't get me wrong, I actually agree with epikt that they should make both kills and assists worth the same in these challenges; that way, behavior can remain normal. Anyway, back on the real topic: I for one am super pleased that they've made this both a Solo and a Group Challenge; this way (again) people can't complain that they've catered to a particular portion of the community. Basically, do what you want, and if you play well, you'll be rewarded. And although I care diddly-squat about leader-boards, I am super pumped that they're once again giving away 10-Million C-bills just for participating in the tournament. (OK, we have to work a little bit, but you know what I mean!) This'll really help me start grinding for the soon-to-be-released Warhawks, as Timberwolves broke my C-bank-account bad! (I haven't even been able to buy all three yet!) Anyway, cheers y'all, and good luck with this new Challenge they've given us. May your C-Bill rewards be worthily attained.
Won't hurt me much. I intend on using my Ember, Oxide, Jenner F, and Raven 3L for this. They're practically assist magnets
Just a reminder - you need to opt in asap even if only to get your free 100k per match. Even if you don't care about the tournament its FREE MONEY for doing what you're doing anyway!
I have given up on leaderboards since it implies giving up my life besides blowing up mechs. The 10 mil c-bills on the other hand is much appreciated. See you all on the battlefield in a couple of hours! o/ Zot ps. having kills worth less than assists will aid me in beefing up my K/D ratio that took a HUGE hit last weekend,... don't let PGI change that
Basically it transfers like this: 5 Kills, 1 Assist, 300DMG: 90p Better luck next time killstealer! 1 Kill, 5 Assists, 300DMG: 130p BLINGBLING! You just got paid! Also... if you Opt-in you get a hula girl after 10 matches, no matter the outcome. So, yes. Opt-in just for the bonusses.
My guess is, metas are discouraged, lights and LRM's will be the preferred Mechs (again). Just for the sake of assists.
it's okay now I have a good reason not to play too much this weekend and get stuff done. Stupid, dumb challenges are getting obnoxious now
Yeah its blatantly a well paid balance test.... note the well paid as 100 decent matches +10m is a lot of c-bills.
It's like 20m+ cbills, just that you have to play 100 matches in 3 days, to get the additional cbills. They like unhealty challenges. On top of that, I was levelling timbers but I will have to drop in IS mech because my faction won't change thanks to the unit, so I will waste levelling time too.
Yeah quite often I avoid the tournaments/challenges but as I have no mechs to level but have a "liquidity shortage" I'm happy to drop in one of my farming builds.
