Seems to work. Don't like that it puts a comment into the thread, the pop up when clicking the rating itself was really nice.

Provide your feedback here for the ratings engine...

What do you like? What don't you like? Etc.

I don't like how the comment is posted on the thread.
The comment you make when rating a build is meant to be a quick independent summary of your opinion on a build, it's not meant to be part of a conversation. All it will create is a lot of deconnected posts flooding the main discussion.
(edit: it will also bump lots of threads on the "new posts" list, for no real reason)
You don't need this to know who voted what, when you click on the "n ratings" link under the stars you have the list.

By the way, if you delete your comment on the thread it keeps the rating, but unfortunately the comment is deleted on rating list too.

25 characters seams to much to me, 10 was enough. Please don't make me add lots of "<3 <3 <3" to my "best mech ever" rating on the Oxide

Big baby! I've lowered it to 10 characters LOL

The feedback is good. Keep it coming folks. All this will be passed along to the developer.

Did seem like I was duplicating things but then I'd just posted on the thread as well with my reasoning. Seems to work fine and dandy tbh. If we can't be bothered to post a reason for the rating then why are we rating it? ;)

Also think the rating comment being added as a post is strange. I think it would be interesting to be able to see/access comments in a pop-away that has to be manually accessed, but separate comment column from the main thread and discussion posts.

You can actually do this now. At the top right it will show the star rating and the number of times a post has been rated. Click that and you can then see who rated what and what their comments were in a popup.

On, nice! Then yeah, keep that, but having them ALSO pop up in the regular discussion is a bit jarring.

I'd just echo that having the small rating comments in between the build conversations is confusing and I don't really like it. Maybe the developer could keep it as a toggleable option, because even though it might not be fitting to the needs of MechSpecs, it could be handy on 'insert fictional XenForo forum X'.

On the top right corner of the rating comment, there is the number of stars the member gave. Is it possible to make it appear on all this member's posts on the thread? This would be most useful.
(but I understand I may require more coding, so no)

I know this is highly probable to be a useless idea at this stage in development of the ratings engine but who knows? It may be useful, if not now maybe some other time or place.

Would it be possible to have two ratings? One current and one average based on old scores?

Given that MWO is highly unstable and the changes keep coming, double scores makes sense to me. Current would last until either of two triggers is used, either a major remake like the quirk system (effective all IS Mechs) or when a minor change effects only specific builds. Both triggers would need to be coded and in the hands of staff only, when either trigger is used the current rating is added to the old and averaged.

The new rating is then blank and ready for new votes under the new conditions.

We already see new quirk builds being posted, PGI will certainly adjust the quirks and thus invalidate/alter builds plus we know Russ said he will make a quirk pass on clans too.

We are only limited by the dollars we have to throw at the project. Currently we are waiting for the next iteration of the ratings engine to come back from the developer but we are already at the $150.00 USD range (154 actually when you convert Euro to USD). I would say no, for now. There are still many other areas that require attention.
