While it doesn't affect me personally, I'm glad PGI is extending the AS7-S deadline so those who skipped clans but are picking up this package have the opportunity. That's class.

Myself, the package is attractive...just not until the END of November when the bonus reward deadline for the package itself comes up. Already have the Fatlass and have a King Crab on the way, so those aren't major considerations for me.

But as a completionist, not a purist, PGI has managed to make the package attractive enough for me as a currently progressing player* ...bankable premium time that can now be pulled out in one month blocks and C-Bill bonus variants I will probably enjoy playing are very nice. And more colors means I can keep not spending MC on colors, so I do at least consider that added value for what colors often go on sale for...even using discount values, something like ~$25+ in colors assuming you were buying them all at max thriftiness? I know a lot of people don't buy colors at all, or only a few, but more paint-job options without having to pay for them is a big perk for me, just not one I can throw money at as a lone consideration or 'truly' that value. Same deal for faction warhorns/cockpit items.

*=I have all of three chassis mastered across all variants, one of which I need to revisit because of the AH, and am still missing something like over 75 individual variants even before this package hits. So much progress to go....

The Enforcer jumps, can run fast, one has absurd energy hardpoints, another has ballistics. I deem the Blackjack obsolete.

There is something to the blackjack's high-mounted hard points which could still make it viable. Plus, don't forget that quirks and drop ship tonnage limits are right around the corner. I is hard to argue about obsolete mechs in the pending environment.

Ok, I was honestly considering buying the Wrath package (which would be my first pre-purchase in the game), mostly because it was going to give me a special edition King-Crab and Premium Time; and then after today's announcement, it was also going to give me the all-new Atlas-S. I was kinda thinking of getting pumped up about it, considering how much cool, free stuff I was getting for just 80 bucks.

But then I saw the hardpoints/loadouts of the 'Mechs, and all that hype got seriously deflated! Here I was thinking these 'Mechs would be decent, especially after Clans got so much build-candy it's not even funny . . . but these things . . .?
    • Panther --- Just about as slow an IS light as you'd ever want to pilot . . . and it doesn't even carry the firepower to make it worthwhile. If this thing could carry 6 or 8 Missile Slots, maybe I'd consider going that slow (it'd be kind of like a newer, maybe better, Oxide). But no, 2 Missile and 3 Energy is the best they could give us; or 1 Missile and 4 Energy, which isn't any better. The Jenner-D is still better than any one of them, despite not being able to carry 8 JJs like the PNT-10K. So meh . . .
    • Enforcer --- I'm really fond of Mediums, so I thought maybe this would be the niche for me. But then . . . those hardpoints. It's basically a 5-ton heavier Blackjack . . . without the symmetry, or the high arm-mounts, or even the build opportunities. Fewer hardpoints in both Ballistic and Energy types = not as good as a Blackjack. The only thing it has going for it is speed, which when you're carrying Ballistics, isn't usually an option anyway. And the 4R variant is STILL super slow anyway. So meh . . .
    • Grasshopper --- I love the Jester. And in a way, this thing is like a bigger, better Jester. That much I like. So I don't have much to say about this guy; he looks promising, and I may very likely purchase them when they are available for C-Bills. But they certainly aren't enough to convince me to spend 80 bucks on this package . . .
    • Zeus --- Battlemaster. That's just about what this thing burns down to. A slightly lighter, slightly faster, Battlemaster. The hardpoints are very similar, the structure appears very similar, and in the end, I don't think there's a single one of the three that I would consider worth running. I HATE single Missile hardpoints, with a passion. What do you put in them? A lone LRM-20? Seems rather pointless, as it doesn't really let the 'Mech fit anywhere on the battlefield. Maybe a lone SRM6+A then? Besides being yet another waste of a weapon-group, I personally find that loading SRMs into low-slung, articulated arms is a bad idea, as it's simply that much harder to land the shot. And sure, the 6S Resistance variant has 2 Ballistic hardpoints in the one arm . . . but with articulated arms like that, the best you can fit is a Gauss or a pair of AC5s. No AC20, no dual-UAC5. In the end, the only things going for the Zeus are its cool name (which isn't all that cool), and the fact that it can move fairly fast for an Assault. Which both the other 80 tonners (the Awesome and the Victor) can do as well. So meh . . .
So yeah, final analysis: the only good things I see myself actually getting out of this package are the Grasshoppers (which are only slightly better than 'Mechs I already own, and I can get them for C-Bills anyway); the King Crab (again, can get it for C-Bills, and I don't care all that much about custom camos or 30% bonuses anyway); the Atlas-S (don't have or care for Atlai as a rule, so can't see why I'd want it; the DDC is still better anyway); the Premium Time (let's face it, I could spend way less money for way more PT); and the Mechbays (again, overspending, same as with PT). So yeah, I'll keep my 80 bucks in my wallet for now, and maybe save it for something actually worthwhile.

Grasshopper is the only 1 I'd pilot, and I think it will make a great mech too with that hardpoints and JJs.

    My thoughts about the newcomers.

    Panther
It's supposed to be a hard hitting Kurita scout. But, although I'm not a follower of the "speed-is-live" doctrine (as I manage to do successful runs in slower lights), I think scouting is off-limits for this Mech. Separating it from the main group will make it a prime for other lights or even fast mediums.
The GRF-ish loadout gives me a (although not unexpected) a severe headache. My guess is that it's best suited for longrange supression fire. Man ECM would look sexy on this one.

    Enforcer
It's compared to the TBT here....probably due to the comparable mobility. I see the pint there. Teh TBT is one of the few Mechs still not in my hangars, so there's not much I can say about it. Everytime I saw a TBT it was more liek a supporter than an infighter. I'm thinking of the Enforcer as a badass brawler, especialley the one with the 2x2B arms.

Grasshopper..... love that it won over the BK. (Always hated that bastard) Nothing says laserbiatch better than a Hopper. But I don't htink it can beat the Phract powerwise. Though I'm eager to do a duell between those two.

Zeus... I totally agree that that's the overall best Mech of this pack. Versatile variants, competitive hardpoints, and an unique style in itself, not to mention probably one of the most expected Mechs in this game. If I would go a la carte, this would be my first choice followed by the Enforcer.

But beeing me means that I already bought the full monty (gota have 'em all, babay!)

Falconium - the AS7-S seems good so far even non upgraded. Only advantage I can see to the DDC now is ECM if you like brawlers. It tanks superbly with a STD 350 and the arms didn't feel too low. Not high but much better than Dragons etc.

I thought the Black Knight and Cyclops won but it was close - ergo why they felt the need to explain why they hadn't gone for those two?

Enforcer and Zeus intrigue me but as I keep saying so much will depend on the quirks coming out. ;)

They've just updated the front sheet to add the C-Bill bonus ones: PNT-10K; ENF-5D; GHR-5J and ZEU-6S.

About the Panther: time to use the missing Engine Size for a STD250. How about?

Not getting it. Already eligible for the rewards, and I'm not impressed by the mechs. I really wanted a Cyclops and Black Knight, would be interesting to see how they implement this 'commanding' functionality with an already good command system for every mech available. Enforcer looks kinda cool, but the Panther, while iconic, is too slow for me.

I've been debating on getting this pack. I like the Panther and the Enforcer. The other two I couldn't care less about.

I begin to think that owning new mechs, due to the open customization mechanics of MWO, is really superfluous because you can already get the same, or better, in other mechs. The Panther was a PPC sporting little engine of death for light/scout lances but in MWO anything can mount a PPC on it and the Enforcer was exactly that however there are already mechs out there that do the job better in the same weight class.

At this point buying new mechs comes down to "I like the shape and the name of that mech so I will get it".

Hopefully quirks can help resolve this.

Panther: Shit. Not worth it unless quirks are good. If you want slow, you can get a jenner/firestarter that does the job better still.
Enforcer: It is ok. Not OMG, but Decent common mech. Will see if the jumping ballistic plays out well.
Grasshopper: Nice for a jumpy heavy energy boat. Just ignore the shit head missile. I would still prefer African American Knight but this one is ok.
Zeus: Nice. Let's see if the speed makes up for that 5 tons. This is battlemaster-lite.
