Great event, StormCrows and ShadowHawks (new hero?) discount up to 50%

Thanks so much for the info. I will grab 3 tomorrow when they go on sale along with 3 Stormcrows. Sounds like the two best mediums for both Clan and IS, and with factional warfare coming, I want to be prepared for whatever.

 

I'll be using the sale as an excuse to pick up the last two chassis I don't have for hawks (not that I've managed any playtime on the other three, but w/e), and will be selling off mastered mechs I can at least wait for a sale to pick up again when I have more mechbays...I need to get more money to actually convert to MC during an MC sale, THEN buy mechbays when THEY're on sale again. PGI may have suckered into getting some of their pre-order packages (which I don't feel bad about), but that doesn't mean I'm just going to hand them my wallet without at least trying to be frugal.

 

Thank you everybody who contributed in this event. We did a great job. The fact that the Jump from 2nd tier 250,000 to 1st tier 450,000+ was only giving additional 5%, was not a good enough motivation for the community to invest any more effort. Would it have been something like 45% -> 70%, then yes maybe we'd also hit the top tier goal.

I personally recommend the 5M, since with 2 Ballistic, 2 Energy, and 2 Missiles, it's the most balanced of the Shawks, and the SHD-5M Blackhawk build works as the best jack-of-all trades mech I have played.

 

I bought my 3 StormCrows. I don't know when I will be playing them but I bought them cause I had the money stashed away.

Which 2 other chassi would u recommend?
I just bought 3 Crows (always wanted them because of the TT), I'm already having 3 Hunchies (which I still like - and im eager to find out how good they will become with the new quirks) - BUT I'm tempted to buy 3 SHDs aswell - 'cause everyone says how good they are and they are on sale^^....worth it?

 

At first I was going to sell off two Commandos I haven't used in quite some time to free up mech bays...then I remembered I just recently topped off mastery of my Adders. For comparison, selling off the two COMs would net like 1/10th the C-Bills of the Adder cores, and I would have had to rebuy DHS, Endo, and Ferro for both after picking them up again, whereas if I buy the A and D again when on sale, they get their upgrades locked in. If I want to mess around with other Adder builds, I'll take the time to swap out pods on my Prime! Now that my SHDs are a complete set, I just need to...equip them. All five of them. And run matches in them.

Oh well, at least I made the right choice with how to free up Mech Bays

 

I'm really happy now. Got all Crows and the SDH-2K. Now i'm broke.. How much C-Bills do i need for the Timberwolves?

 

45millions, not too bad. I saved so much for the whales, because I thought they were going to cost much much, plus this event sale, that I'm already grinding for the warhawks...yay

I'm thinking about buying the 2D2, I miss it and it's just 2m, but after trying the SC...

 

I was flat broke after buying the SCRs, so I can't buy 2 more SHDs to finish my mastery on them I actually had to grind a few matches on my Ember just to outfit my splatcrow. But now, let the eliting BEGIN!!!

 

Caveat ... pending Quirks.

 

I would say the 2H for the ballistic hardpoints, 2xAC5+1xAC2 or 3xAC2 are just plain mean builds to run in a medium. The last would be a tossup between the 2K and the 2D2. The 2D2 is a slightly better missile boat as it has 4 missile slots (though the head slot becomes useless if you want to run Artemis), while the 2K is a nice balance with 3E and 3M, but no ballistics.

Thank you very much for your advise - just bought the SHD-2H, -2K and -5M.
Don't know when i will have time to level them (3 brand new SCRs in the garage aswell) - but that sale was too good to miss....

 

The worst part about MWO's "skill" system grind is that as soon as you grind up a mech to master level and can use it in its maximum capacity, you have to stop using it and switch over to another version of that mech that you probably don't even want to be using that performs at a lower efficiency, and then do it again. Ugh. It is not so bad with clan mechs since if you like one setup, you can use it on all 3 setups (for most mechs) via pod swapping, but with IS mechs, ugh, the grind just to unlock master and an extra module slot sucks terribly.

 

Nothing bothers you after you grind out a Spider-5V... after that, you will know inner peace.
(or if we had an Urbie to grind)

 

Actually you just have to basic all 3 if you already have a mastered chassi in that weightclass - so its not that bad...

 

Every time I read this, I wake up in a corner somewhere, curled into a ball, crying in remembrance...
