That was me who posted that. Almost E-V-E-R-Y IS Mech has extra hardpoints which are not in the originalTRO.... The original Post can be founde HERE: https://www.mechspecs.com/threads/heavy-mech-poll.7182/page-2#post-51669
YLW. The original YLW has 3 Energy hardpoints in the story at some point, but the mwo version only have two.
The original YLW also have titanium blades on the left arm, which is FREAKING AWESOME! I remember a scene where the AC/20 jams and the pilot uses the blades to destroy the cooling system of the enemy mech and makes it overheat to death. Battletech novels certainly are not great literature, but there must be some cool stuff inside if I remember it almost 20 years after.
Yep, there it is. SO MANY EXTRA HARDPOINTS. And straight up non-canon variants. The ORIGINAL original Wang has two energy hardpoints. Being based on the default A loadout, one is rear mounted (which is why both are forward facing in MWO). It later gets an upgrade to three, but strangely the hardpoint locations are two in the left arm and one rear mounted in the torso. I still think that would be an interesting variant to have, and I think MWO is coming up on the year it would have been available (I'll let a better lore junkie say aye or nay to that).
Yeah, and I think at onw point he is holding an axe or something. Either way it is badass. Well, I am fine with a few extra hardpoints, as long as things retain the feel of the mech. This is a "Merc" style gam afterall, and customizing is norm. I mean, everyone would want to be ahero and having his customized ride like those in the stories, right? Extra hardpoints does ensure a dfference the otherwise identical variations. Technically speaking you can't nit-pick on in-universe realism too much. I mean, many of us have mech hanger big enough to make Wolf's Dragoon blush. I am sure it is more than enough to do lots of customization. If only we can have solaris games now. I do with they have more toys to play with, I mean I would love things like melee weapons, MRM and what not. But I guess for now we take it one step at a time. As long as things don't go out of hand like a TSM jumping Atlas with 2x giant melee weapon then things are acceptable I guess.
Lol so true... but technically Wolf's Dragoons had 5 regiments so ....assuming full strength we're talking a lot of mechs.
Indeed, but an almost full collection of mech (I sold a few I really dislike) that is currently available is already more than one all mech regiment, which is a scary thought. Basically mechspecs regulars alone has enough mech to start the invasion. *** Currently: 106 Members (Last 24 Hours) Record: 124 Members *** I would say most members definitely have the mech collection of a company level, with most being battalion level. That is at least a Division, being really conservative with the numbers. Some of these guys have multiples of the same mech( and even golden mech) and even extra test accounts.
I have two regiments alone including duplicates. Well presuming you're going with a regiment being the classic 108 configuration of 4 per lance, 3 lances per companies, 3 companies per battalion, 3 battalion's per regiment. Add in battalion command lances and regiment command companies and the number jumps. Of course those seemed to be mainly fluff comments from memory and described as reinforced regiments (or something like that). Can't remember how the Wolf's Dragoons were represented on their TOE. That said they also had companies or later battalion's like Wolf's Spiders.
Confirmed.... My hangar holds almost a full company 22 Lights (sold 2) 29 Mediums (sold 1) 28 Heavies 21 Assaults That makes already 100 Mechs w/o counting the KGC, AS7S, CN9-AH and the Clan Wave II Mechs.... Then I have 115. So: YAY... A full regiment and 7 spare Mechs.... I definitively need more dropships. For those wondering: Lance: 4 Mechs Company: 3 Lances (12) Battalion: 3 Companies (36) Regiment: 3 Battalions (108) Reinforced Regiment: 4 Battalions (144).... gettin' there...
Coincidentally there was also a described variant with command lances: 36 + 4 battalion command lance 36 + 4 battalion command lance 36 + 4 battalion command lance 12 regimental command company Total: 132 Then we have Comstar and their fixation with the number 6 or those clanners who liked the number 5. Weirdoes the lot of them. Edit: Lets be honest there were as many variants as there were books produced.
Well I gave in and bought the Blackhawk package for $60 so I could get the founders atlas. Probably not my smartest choice, but basically payed $10 for each mech which isn't bad.
Well, that was a rather dramatic swing. More mediums than heavies or assaults? Before the patch mediums were not infrequently the lowest percentage weight class.
It will probably settle down in a few days. I took this screenshot 3 hours after the patch, lots of people are testing the new mechs. (myself for example, I don't play assault often, but tonight next to half my drops were on my shiny new Atlas)
