http://mwomercs.com/forums/topic/175273-new-inner-sphere-resistance-pack/ Panther, Enforcer, Grasshopper, and Zeus. Hrm... I... I think I might want this one. Edit 1: What the hell are they going to do about the Enforcer? There are almost no canon variants of it. Edit 2: Welp. Looks like PGI created a variant for the Enforcer. This can only mean that any timeline appropriate 'Mech is fair game now. (Unless the original came from a property that is chained to Harmony "We Suck Ass" Gold, or is a Quad.)
PGI has been outright given us non-canon variants of multiple mechs before, so my guess is they'll be doing that and saving the custom variants listed on sarna as potential for a hero. As for the pack, it looks promising but I'll be waiting for the full details before making any decisions. In this case, hardpoints and max engine will be huge considerations on these models.
But they haven't outside a hero mech. If you look at the base version of every 'Mech in the game, discounting tweaks to armour based on the doubling (The way it balances between front and rear on the torsos...) they are identical to their TT counterpart. The new Enforcer will not have any pre-existing canon table top variant.
Not even close. Remarius posted good details: https://www.mechspecs.com/threads/heavy-mech-poll.7182/page-2#post-51669 MANY IS mechs outright get additional hardpoints, but some models may as well have been quoted as an inspiration for building something new...like a 're-imagined' movie. You can sort of tell what its based on, but it's really not the same.
Yes, they get additional hardpoints, including adding some that fit weapons in the original TT, but the base version - the stock version - is straight from TT. After all, hardpoints don't exist at all in TT. I can put a Gauss Rifle on a Jenner if I want. (Which is silly. Just field a Hollander.) The Enforcer only has two non-hero TT variants without switching to the Enforcer III, which is technically a different 'Mech - as well as later in the timeline.
Do want. Especially that Enforcer. Great mech! So is the panther, but not as excited about that. Probably only going to get the medium/lights as I don't know about the Zeus/Grasshopper.
Not sure what I am thinking about the Grasshopper. For me, it never stood out. But eh... it has jump jets? Also, variant details on Wednesday according to Russ's Twittering.
I am assuming that purchasing the top tier Wrath Pack would qualify me (and anyone else) for the 1st Anniversary Top Tier Reward (free King Crab). The Announcement did say we had until December 16th . . . but will this IS pack qualify as a pre-order? If it did, it would certainly affect my decision whether or not to buy these things . . .
Same here. None of those are appealing to me, although I do have a weak spot for the Enforcer. However, the Phoenix package teachedd my not to do the same mistake again, as only SHDs proved to be worthwhile for me out of those. On the other hand the value of this set is higher.
Enforcer.. meh... I want a Clint instead. But... Panther? YAY! The same thing here though. Until 3050 only two variants excist and harpoint-wise they're similar.
Good Package. A 70t Grasshopper and 80t Zeus - well done PGI! I might consider to buy the Top Tier Package as Xmas Present for myself.
Again: especially those two don't impress me much. All of the Grasshopper should have JJs, but there have to be other reasons to use them over Cataphracts. And the Zeus? I for my part know which 80t mech I will play when the VTRs regain their agility.
I'm not sure about this package. On one hand, new mechs...on the other hand, $80, plus they want another $120 for clan wave 2...and they wanted so much for wave 1. I just don't know if I want to spend more real money on these mechs...
I like the redesigns, these mechs look really cool. I'm only interested about the Panther (yeah!)(though I'm not sure how it would compete with Jenners and Ember) and maybe Enforcer. And I think I'll buy at least the first tier for the purple Marik content It's the purpose of this pack I believe: some IS loyalists wanted to be able to qualify for the Crab without being forced to buy clan mechs.
From a Utility point of View you might be right. But if you buy a car you first buy it with your eyes. And the Looks/Redesigns are pretty well done. We will see how they perform on the battlefield.
As Epikt said there were a lot of people asking for a new pack as they hadn't got the pheonix one and now have all those mechs. First pack I'm unsure of tbh. Grasshopper is awful particularly as the jump jets now cost a quirk plus its smells of Liao which is a massive negative quirk for me as a Davionist. Either way apparently people wanted crippled awful mechs with head mounted missiles.... Panther - I get that its quintessentially Kuritan but the last thing we needed was a fourth 35 ton chassis. In fairness though a lot of people have been asking for it for a long time. Amusingly though they're raising the speed cap on the engine according to Russ so that will help it. Enforcer - Slow (200/250 engine), 4/5 jump jets, almost no hardpoints (4R & 5D = 1 E LA/LT & 1 B RA).... DOA unless they revamp it. It was awful in TT and can't see why it will be any better here. I get that its a Davion mech but........ Zeus - Entirely down to the quirks they give it but a very mixed bag with missile/ballistic and energy points (usually 1/1/3). Could have an interesting ERLL/MPL version in the 9S if the quirks fall nicely.
Always keep in mind, that all of those Mechs surely will get some extra hardpoints. I don't really think a Panther with single beam and missile slot can be competitive at all. So PGI will add at least a second beam slot. Since the two available variants up to 3050 are similar, they could (and probably will) make a variant with emphasis on beam and the other with focus on the missile pods. Just an expample. Same goes for the Enforcer. The available TRO-variants are similar regarding the hardpoints. PGI HAS to modify the hardpoints in order to get three variants. It has been done with other Mechs before....
They created a third variant themselves according to Russ. Some might complain but tbh that option opens up a lot of potential chassis like the Mauler....
