Indeed ;) I made a separate post on the subforum, so go there for more Dragon talk ;)

That said, I'm still very happy to see that the quirks will make the various chassis show more uniqueness. While there is a certain unique element to mechs already with different builds, it's nice to see something a little bit more in-depth than that starting out. Plus it's going to breathe some new life into the "crap" variants of each chassis by giving them something unique and special to bring to the table.

Well even that Fang looks interesting as a LPL boat. ;)

They aren't there yet. But I can only guess that - Fang being the precedence - there's something worthwhile among it.

The now-defunct MechWarrior Revival crowdfunding thing. They couldn't get the legal rights to use the MW universe in an animated movie, so they just left the simple trailer on youtube. Someone took a bunch of clips and made them into memes ;) And I figured I'd share a couple!

Like everyone I don't like that most weapon buffs are for certain weapon systems. Good to hear that shitty chassis are going to be more viable. Especially the 9Q becoming THE ppc boat.

I'm really not trying to be rude, but if you think this is about the N, you aren't paying attention. I can happily discuss how 40% cooldown for the LBX-10 on the D shaves a full second off the firing cycle of a crit-gasm weapon, which when stacked with a module fires at ~1.25s, or how the Pretty Baby now gets to mount Large Lasers that from a damage over time perspective is functionally able to fire four for the weight of two and heat of three, at nearly the range of the ERLL, and demonstrate how it fundamentally changes acceptable load-outs on those respective mechs.

Or how the Wang and 4G quirks literally destroy any reason to ever mount a AC-10 or LBX-10, and make 5s unattractive despite their range/cooldown, meaning that the Gauss would be the only alternative considered viable because ZOMGUYZSNIPER. Or...maybe AC-2s? Because you're cray-cray?

"Hey, 8Q, what's it like being able to mount five PPCs that behave 25% better across the board?"
"Well, man, still having a minimum range bites, but other than that I just run around the map going TROLOLOL. I went ahead and swapped one for an LPL that only has a half second burn time to punk n00bs and it's still like having five PPCs!"

The point is not one chassis specifically, it's that quirks on this scale (let's just say ~20% and above) fundamentally change the behavior of weapons altogether, especially when they are doubled up or are applied to multiple aspects of the same weapon. Especially when three aspects are affected, or when one aspect is affected and another is double strength. And that's not even the limit, we already have an example of a T5 mech gaining FOUR of its quirks to ONE SPECIFIC weapon system rather than the generic and somewhat weaker. Taking that example, the thing could still have been 'the definitive PPC boat' with the following quirks instead:
Awesome QQQQQQQQ - Tier 5 Troll
    Additional Structure CT +20
    Additional Structure LT +10
    Additional Structure RT +10
    PPC Range +25%
    PPC Velocity +25%
    PPC Cooldown +25%
    Laser Duration -16%
Energy Weapon Heat Gen -12% (or the bonus heat dissipation they scrapped)

Now it has a reason and a more respectable trade-off between PPCs and lasers. The PPCs would still out-preform PPCs from any other mech (nearly ER long range, stronger aim, faster fire) while still running cooler than base but not as much cooler as now. Meanwhile, lasers run cooler, which is a critical consideration for mounting them at all when your raison d'ĂȘtre is already energy pewpew that's great with PPCs. You have reason AND MORE MEANINGFUL CHOICE between PPCs, ERPPCs, and various lasers without harming the 8Q's identity.

This is why I also support distinctions like SubjectSeven has suggested. Possible category distinctions:
    Ballistics
    -Light (2s & 5s, possibly MGs) vs Heavy (10s & 20s)
--Alternately MGs vs ACs vs LBXs

    Missiles:
    -Long vs short
-Locks (LRM + SSRM) vs dumb (SRM)
    -Light (2s, 5s, 10s, possibly 4s) vs heavy (maybe 4s, definitely 6s, 15s, and 20s).

    Lasers:
    -Light (Small/Medium) vs Heavy (Large/PPC)
    -Burn vs Pulse
    -Laser vs PPC
    -For IS: Regular vs ER

Heck, mix and match when appropriate. Add in the potential to dumbfire SSRMs and let them straddle both categories but only use the better quirk of the same aspect if two apply. But more of the generic quirks that retain normalized behavior within a weapon class or type to retain trade-offs between weapon systems is FUNDAMENTAL to what balance even exists in a Battletech game...seeing so few of this type on the list we have is what concerns me. Yes, it is nice to see chassis differentation, and it's WONDERFUL to see some beloved old clunkers able to come out of retirement, but I really don't think I'm exaggerating to say that viable build diversity will keep MWO alive, because having those viable options has made or killed other games with the license...turning into 'that MOBA in the BT universe where each chassis is a specific character' is a gamble I don't like. I do, however think there's a line that can be straddled between the extremes, giving each chassis their own "personality" without locking them into one build.

On the one hand i like it that some outdated IS Mechs get some Buffs to fight Clanners. But on the other hand i somehow don't like that with the specific Weaponbuffs people are driven to run specific Builds mainly. Because honestly, if you get 25% CD&Velocity Buff for the AC10 on a Fang, you must be an Idiot to load something else. At least it feels like a waste if you want to run something else. Well, whatever.. I will master my few unmastered Lights and get the upcoming C-Bills Clan Mechs. So will rarely roll out my dusty IS Mechs even with all these Quirks.
