    What happened to the guide?

Every link I click on I get this
    MechSpecs.com - Error
The requested forum could not be found.

Oh well I can still look at it on MWO site ;)

The link doesn't work, but you can click the overview tab because this is a resource in the guides section. You can also view reviews of what people think of this particular guide.

I've been thinking about getting the hunchies. Would the Hunchback mastery pack be worth purchasing? It seems like a good deal, but I don't know much about the chassis.

I really enjoyed my time in the . The game was a different animal back then but it was great fun. Check out one of the videos I did that shows the hunchbacks. You should have access to it as a Benefactor.

Those packages are usually a very god deal. Check the variants included, though - I would think the HBK one good an inferior XL engine in comparison to other packages (CN9 for example get the excellent XL 300 in the CN9-D).

The problem with the Mastery packs, for me, is that you're paying real money for one variant you can buy with C-bills, an XP-boost on a second variant you can buy with C-bills if you don't care about the XP-boost, on top of the mech bays, 30-day premium time package, and in the case of the Hunchback, a standing cockpit item.

If you actually value all those items for MC, then yes, it's 50% off. They're also always on sale, all the time, so you don't have to try and cobble together different sale times for the champion, the hero, the mechbays, yaddayadda, which is convenient. And the hunchback is great, don't let anyone tell you different!

Personally, though, I find it hard to spend even the on-sale equivalent of at least $2.91 for a mech chasis I can get with C-Bills and $3.60 the Champion variant. If you want it and are willing to get the bundle deal, go for it and don't let me talk you out of it, but the bundles are personally missing the little extra something to get me to jump onboard.

Good deal if you do not have any.

If you are missing just 1-2 then get it on their own. Otherwise it is good to start with.

you need the laser version and I think you get Grid Iron with it, then it is set. Think you get a missile variant too. not sure.

That's what I thought, before I actually did the maths (2 minutes ago  )

The hunchback mastery pack costs 5575 MCs.
It includes the Grind Iron hero mech (3750 MC, 1875 MC on -50% sale), 3 mechbays (900 MC), 30 days of premium time (2500 MC) and stuff not worth spending MCs on (champion and standard variant, and the cheerleader I believe). That makes a value somewhere between 5275 and 7150 MCs. Good deal as long as you planned to buy the Grid Iron and don't want to wait for it to be on a -50% sale.

edit: that being said that's not something I'd buy, since I always wait to test the mech and be sure I enjoy it before paying MCs for the Hero variant (and most of the time I wait for the sale)(I think the only mechs I paid full price were the Oxide and Arrow, well, because Jenners and BlackJacks are awesome).

If you get cheerleader then good deal, think you cannot get it now since limited edition is not for sale anymore.

I love my hunchies... been playing with my HBK-P(C) I got from medium starter pack.. I have it elited and I can slice off parts.. so much fun it brings a tear to me eye :) I started with Hunchbacks in closed beta and it feels like going home whenever I run one!

I wasted a lot of time and C-Bills Mastering this chassis. Worth it I think, but it would have been much easier following these guidelines. Still love ducking and weaving with my 4SP. Just loved unloading into the back of assaults as I zipped by, and the engine ugrade just made it more fun.

The package looks good to me regarding the chassi choices - you can run all "good" builds with it: HBK-4G "BFG Striker" (with the Grid Iron), HBK-4SP "Baller" and the HBK-4P "Knifeback" - my favourite setups.
If u avoid putting XL's into these u'll have a very tough machine which is fun to pilot and which can dish out quite some damage (no JJ's but the STD engine and the sick torso twistrating makes up for it - mostly).
Epikt did the math - so its up to u;)...

The hunchback is certainly a chassis I wouldn't dream of running an XL in, despite my addiction to XL engines. I'll probably consider buying the hunchback pack, I've got about 12000 MC at the moment. I will wait for the quirk pass, which is going to be in November now :meh:

Once you have gotten into your head that you are a hunchback master, you will pilot a XL HBK-4P with 2x LL 6x ML :D
Since clans have come along that will probably have changed a lot though.

Deadly mech but I'm afraid it's a S7 exclusive, only him can make it work
